Cai got a reaction from D1003 Briner in AOC Tips for beginners
Hey peeps, I'm here today to share some tips for new members on how to have an easier time on AOC II. Was supposed to be posted like last month, but completely forgot about it :P. *Repost , accidentally put it in wrong category earlier. 1. When you start a game, disband your troops. It will let you gain more profit for the first few turns, netting you more income by the time of your first war.
    2. Let smaller nations attack first. When you declare war on a smaller nation, cover your border with tier 2 forts and hold the line. This will lessen the amount of casualty you will gain and lets you invade them without much damage done to you. This applies to large nations too if you have a small border with them.

    3. Focus on your economy& Population.
When you are not in war, focus on increasing your economy. It will help you in the long run by increasing your income and increase your country rank [If you care about it].  Also, set your Goods to around ~30-40% and investment to 18-25% for maximum efficiency. Its better to invest manually than spend on investment.  Another thing. The best Population to economy ratio is 1 Citizen, 2 economy. It will gain more income than normal. If you have more Economy than people, focus on goods. If more people than economy, set goods to 20-22% and focus on your economy. Make sure to have development up. More development- more income. Bonus: Try not to send tens/hundreds of thousands troops on one enemy province at once. it will ruin the economy of the province you want to keep. Will continue updating this within the week.

Problem with multiplayer is, these games will last AGES.... A Turn may take ~1s for one person who has nothing to do and is just growing one province, vs a person whose declaring war on multiple fronts taking a few minutes. The person that only spent 1s now has to wait minutes for the other person to finish... and then theres hundreds of others civs.

Now, its easy to suggest something without actually thinking about it.
Here are a few reasons why this shouldn't be implemented.
    1) Game already loads slowly per turn & This game was originally made for mobile
Do you realize how many additional calculations it would take per turn if you added that layer of complexity? Game already takes a while to go through a turn as it is. With that, you're doubling/tripling the amount of resources and most mobile devices will stop being able to get the most out of the game, opting for smaller maps just for a layer of complexity.
    2) Its easy to suggest, but hard to implement.
It may seem easy for you to say "Add more troop types" but have you ever considered what has to be changed? If this was to be implemented, they would have to change the recruit tabs and add more options, change the AI of the civilizations [Which would be hard], find a balanced price, power level and add way more calculations to troops [Instead of Troops A* bonusdefA vs TroopsB vs bonusdefB, the game now has to deal with armor piercing, which type of troops damage the other the most, how to prioritize which type attacks first, etc.].
    3) It would ruin it's casual gameplay
Instead of being a relatively simple game, this will have turned it into something like other games of this genre [Didn't state any, not sure if its allowed or not] If that happens, the demography this game is supposed to serve will be turned down, as AOC II will become just another clone of those games by that point.

Edit: If you really want this, try getting this into a mod when mod support is released or something, don't ruin it for everyone by permanently replacing the core mechanics of the game.

"You followed my idea of creating a mod, even though no game files were copied, the scenario is LITERALLY about whats happening in real life, and you're doing it for fame even though I'm less famous than you! *Insert more rambling here*"
See how idiotic that honestly sounds? Plus, that text you posted is confusing, it's contradicting itself.

    1. Diplomacy stuck at 0 late game
Its annoying late game where vassals now rebel because of that -.- [Although it might just be that im at turn 2600 .-.]

    2. Stuck eco for some provinces at 99
    Not that bad, but annoying.

for that to be possible, the multiplayer mode would have to eliminate the system of shifts to move to one in real time, similar to that of crusader kings, EU, etc.

Instead of editing I'll add more content here, so it becomes visible [editing does not notify people afaik].
    9) For the mass upgrades/build tool, to make it balanced, make using it more pricey than normal
For example, instead of costing 10000 to upgrade that economy, it will instead take 13000 to make the game balanced.
    10) [Non-Gameplay related] Extensive Plugin/Mod Support
If possible, I'd like to see support for plugins as add-ons, I'd like to make them myself without having to change the game's code.
Not plugins like different ui, but also adding commands, features etc.
    11) Better Taxation/Expenditure Model.
Currently when you have a huge economy, changing tax rates is insignificant. The formula for that should be changed.
Also, increasing allocation of coins to goods and development doesn't change the rate that significantly, even though we might be spending more than triple what we used to.
    12) [Diplomacy] Ask a friendly civilization to increase relations with another nation.
This is to prevent the situation that occurs when you cant ally someone even though you have 100 relations because your ally doesn't care about that civilization.
Will be adding more in the future. If you have any criticisms or concerns about these suggestions, please post down below and I'll try to explain how will that work or change it if something is wrong.

Hello there! A Hardcore AOC Fan here for years :).
Anyways, here is my list of suggestions for the game [Some of which may be already suggested, but this is just making it more organized :P]

    1) Brush mode for Investing, Assimilation, Festivals and Building construction.
These are pretty much self explanatory. Micromanagement gets annoying late game, where I have to manually select hundreds of provinces and improve them one by one.
    2) Additional options for long term Investments.
Give us the option to select how long we should invest for, investment currently is also annoying when developing newly colonized civilizations.
    3) Disband army changes
Currently, we get nearly no population from disbanding an army, we should at least get half or 75% the population. As far as i have seen, even disbanding tens of thousands of troops give less than a thousand population back.
    4) Vassal Options
I Recommend adding an option for us to choose which areas the vassal prioritizes [Economy, Growth etc.] It's annoying when vassals don't grow because their economy is stuck at ~100-200 per province.
I also recommend adding a way for us to change the vassal's tax allocation, as well as an option for us to control the vassals action [With a chance of success/failure depending on relations]
    5) Trade Fixes
I recommend adding a suggestion on how much money to give for a trade to succeed, or a chance meter for us to know. So far, I haven't had a successful trade for a province, which was annoying as i had to kill off a loyal ally just to form Prussia 😞
I also recommend trade acceptances being based off the economy of a nation [Like to buy a province they'll weigh the money they'll get vs the money they earn per turn or nations being bribed to declare war checking if it is a good deal.
    6) An option to hire non-assimilated people.
Let us hire non-assimilated citizens for like 20-35 gold each. It will still make the game balanced, but it can help us in dire times [Colony getting wiped]
    7) Diplomacy related
    a) Add chance meters for Non aggression pacts, Unions, Military access etc.
    b) Add for how many turns non aggression pacts you requested.
    8) Population transfer
Let us transfer populations from one province to another.
That's all for now, I'll edit more stuff in when i have the time!
