Welcome to Colonial Wars! So you might ask wtf is colonial wars? Colonial Wars is a mod that I've been working on for a long time, but due to some problems, it was dead. But it's once more alive! What is the story of this mod? It has been a long time since the style of government and management of the rulers of the world has been the same, it has not changed much, but these years, the world is changing. in the east, the islands of Japan have been united under the control of a unified government. In India, many new colonial companies are emerging. In the Middle East, Persian fortifications are weakening. In America, the indigenous people have left no choice but to cooperate with the Europeans, and they are in danger of extinction and the European colonies in Africa are progressing. But most importantly, frightening conditions have arisen in Europe. Since the beginning of the 17th century, Europe is undergoing a drastic and revolutionary transformation, and a new era is coming. People call these changes and evolution "The Enlightenment movement" The thoughts of Protestantism are progressing, the freedom of expression and the media is greatly increased And they are competing with Catholic Church. The volume of accusations towards the Pope and the Vatican has greatly increased. all the people have lost their trust and belief in the Catholic Church. The class distance in European societies is increasing and a new level of classes ie aristocratic families entered the society and they have established a new system of modern slavery... In the meantime, there have been major wars between the governments of Europe and they have caused many deaths, feudalism is on the verge of extinction. The colonial rivalry between France and Great Britain has grown and the relations between these two countries are very frightening. In Central Europe, a new German kingdom of Prussia is setting foot among the European powers and, Silesia, one of the most important lands of Habsburg Austria, was annexed under their control. The Austrian Empress is thirsty for war and revenge against Prussia, a huge war is coming... Fedualism is dying... How does this mod work? This modification for the age of civilizations called "Colonial Wars" adds a new scenario for 1746. In this scenario, Great Britain, the Kingdom of France, the Kingdom of Spain, Austria (the kingdom of Habsburg), the Kingdom of Prussia, the Swedish Kingdom, the Russian Empire, the Afshariyeh dynasty (Iran), and the Viceroyalty of Bengal have complete and interesting content. Alongside, we have created relatively smaller content for Polish Lithuanian Commonwealth and the Portuguese kingdom. Now you may be asked how the Event system of this mod works. Well, we have designed two main Events trees. The first tree is "National Reforms", in these events, as a leader of a country you must make reforms to the development of your army, technology, economy, and the society of your country. however, there is a small chance for your reforms to fail and will hit your economy. In the second root, we have "The Diplomatic Focus Tree", in The Diplomatic Focus Tree you have to make decisions related to your country's diplomacy that will give you Buffs or Change Your Relations With Other Countries... Currently, I and my discord modding team are working every day on the mod, even though we have a big modding team the progress is slow because of the high amount of research and writing that we must do. This is in my oppinion the most simple and most useful change. So basicly there would be another tick box above the "play as" one in the vassal creation screen, which would be the "put into alliance" and it would just put your vassal into your alliance or make one if you don' t have one yet. So simple and so easy, but it would make all of our life easier,l and the game more fun. (also pls remove ai agressiveness clamp so it could be 0%)

My sugestion starts by been capable of change the vassal behaviour (be passive, agresive, defensive), and the owner be capable of giving orders to the vassal, like: Declare war, be neutral or support on the players war, etc... (just a few examples). Also have the option to change the vassal ideology.

I basically never vassalize countries when I play because, sooner or later, even the smallest of my vassals will declare war on another country and I'll have to invade it to stop the war, or pay it off. This is a real shame, as some of my more ridiculous games include large "alliances" of puppet states led by a great power (me), that are then liberated at will for me to go to war with again if I wish to do so. Is there any way to limit vassals' declarations of war? If not in-game, what adjustments would I have to make to make it impossible for a vassal to declare war, and only allow it to join wars if I ask them to? Any help is greatly appreciated

It could be able to buy vassals in the requisition of trade the only way you can give someone a vassal is fighting some country and signing white peace but if it's with the CPU it gets complicated

Hi! I really like the concept of vassals, but in some cases it is really hard to control them. For example if I have 5 vassals and I want them to be in my alliance it is really hard to make it, or of I want to get provinces from them, I have to annex the vassal. So my idea is to have a ,, full control over vassals" kind of button in the scemario options menu (where u can set the difficulty) and it will make that the vassals get into everything. So they accept every offer of the lords don't matter how bad relation they have. I hope you like my idea, and thanks for an amazing game Lukas.

Hey Lukas , the vassals now are really boring you can`t do anything with them just ask him for money and that`s all. Here I have some suggestions for them: The ability to assimilate his population. Once the population of the vassals provinces is in minority you can make a referendum and the provinces join to you. The ability to ask from vassals some army.(like 0.5% of his population per round). When we are into a war every province conquered by my vassals to give me points not to him. The ability to change type of his government. Thank you for reading.

My vassals sometimes get into wars that I cannot join, sometimes they even declare the wars themselves. Pretty sure that's not how it is supposed to work. Futher more, if my vassal loses and gets annexed, well that's just too bad for me because now I lost that vassal! And if I go into "Diplomacy -->(the country I'm playing as) --> Vassals" it still states I own that vassal, except I don't earn any tax from it.

I hate it when I make a vassal and after a while they become useless to me and I can't annex them and I have to get in a messy war even If I just want 1-2 provinces from that vassal it's so annoying so my suggestion there should be a button to take a certain amount of provinces from a vassal

When pressing the button Provinces it should show in a different blu-ish color in your vassals, after all you control them

The colony has some liberty desire when created. the suzerain becomes to be able to annex its colony after 30 turns. ◆Subject - ex. vassals of Seljuk empire, Soviet Socialist Republic in USSR ・same as colony. The suzerain can ask its subject to abandon its autonomy. If it accept, the suzerain occupy its provinces. ◆Puppet - ex. British raj, Holstein ・same as colony, but its suzerain absorbs 30% of income of its puppet. If you win the war and create a vassal, the created vassal will become this kind of vassal. The puppet may ask its suzerain to change itself to this kind of vassal when it has moderate liberty desire (20~30%). Suzerain can deny its request but the war will be started. ◆Dominion - ex. Dominion of Canada, Australia(WW2) ・same as Vassal in AoC2 now. (the suzerain can absorb only a few gold. The dominion can declare war.) The dominion may ask its suzerain to release itself. Here are a few suggestions I have (react with these things if you support it) (like)> Vassals should not be able to peace out with other vassals if both their lords are at war (sad)> The Player should get more control over their vassals (confused)>You should be able to ajust population and economy from the start (like with tech level) instead of having to make an event to ajust it (haha)>There should be an easier way to import flags when making custom civs (thanks)>When vassals are pushing in a war overseas (for example british raj helping the uk in germany) the area the vassal takes should be occupied by the lord :D

Altough I quite like the current vassal system with the tribute that has to be paid each round, I think it could be a bit deeper.a good refference for the new vassal system would be Hoi4 together for victory, in which the vassals have different levels of autonomy from their master. Example levels for aoc2: -Dominion: able to call vassals into wars, but they can deny the request. and a samll tribute would be paid -puppet/satellite: vassal is forced to join the master's war. the master is able to build farms,workshops etc. in pupptets territory and a larger tribute would be paid. -integrated puppet: vassal is forced to join the master's war. the master is able to build farms,workshops etc. in pupptets territory and a great tribute would be paid. the master can also controll the puppets army and is also able to disband them. changing their levels of autonomy could work in two ways 1. the master can spend gold in order to slowly reduce the autonomy level of the vassal similar to hoi4 with autonomy bars. the vassal could gain autonomy by spending gold or helping the master in wars. 2. the master can spend gold and the autonomy would be instantly reduced and the vassal would need to help in wars to increase their level. The already established liberty desire of vassals could also be used for the new system. the liberty desire would show the increase of autonomy per round examples would be: 10% liberty desire = 0.1 point increase of autonomy per round 30% liberty desire = 0.3 point increase of autonomy per round 50% liberty desire = 0.5 point increase of autonomy per round 100% liberty desire = 1.0 point increase of autonomy per round this is just a suggestion and you could comment what you'd like to improve.
