Age of Civilizations

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, as the title says, I need some help with scenarios - specifically the events.

So, I made my own custom WWII scenario and I'm making events to have real life events play out historically in the game. When I'm finished, I hope it'll be like watching World War II unfold before my eyes in video game form. A perfect display of history.

However, I've just run into my first problem: ending the Spanish Civil War. I built the scenario so that the game starts out with both sides at war. It's actually surprisingly random with whoever wins, but I've easily rigged it in¬†favor of the Nationalists by manually giving them extra troops at the start. The problem instead lies with ending the war and having the Nationalists fully annex the Communist Republicans. They never have enough war score points. They usually end up taking just a few provinces and peacing out. To fix this, I've tried making an event: "End of the Spanish Civil War!" which will result in an immediate white peace between both sides and a capital move to Madrid. The white peace should allow the Nationalists full annexation of all conquered territory, which will be perfect because the event is triggered by Spain having 62 provinces or more, which is the amount of provinces they would have once they've occupied all Communist Republican territory. Only problem is, it doesn't fucking work. I've tried making other triggers/conditions for the event, such as "controlled provinces" and "occupied provinces" and brush-selecting the provinces of Spain. The "Number of provinces >=" which was what I tried using first, didn't work either. I've run out of triggers that would make sense. If anyone out there understands the events in this game, please help me. ūüėē

Just use annexation in outcome and do not pit any country in current owner column and put nationalist spain in new owner column. I have tried this in my WW2 scenario. If you do not put any country in current owner then it gives them that territory regardless of who controls it.

What did you use for your trigger? It's still not working for me.

Alternatively, use control province 0% republican spain for the spanish mainland. This would mean that the event triggers when they lose the mainland.

i dont know if im reading these wrong or not, but i tried everything here and it didnt work for me, currently doing a sort of Denmark Civil War of a scenario im making but there is still 1 or 2 provinces left of the other Denmark

After some experiments I realized that the ai ends the war before the event can fire. I did not encounter this since I was doing Spanish Civil War and islands are involved. I also never encounter it when I am playing as that nation.

I have a theory. If you give each side an insignificant province in the ocean through the event that begins the war, then this should not happen as the provinces will remain occupied. The ai takes a lot of time before peacing out in case of a stalemate. You can return the provinces by the event that ends the war. I would recommend giving the islands of the small Pacific nations since they rarely do anything. This would ensure that your gameplay is not affected. I will have to test this out.(I am currently making two 4 way civil wars so I will have plenty of opportunities to do that.) I know how difficult it can be to get civil wars to work.

I created a scenario on a grand scale! It's called "Everyone in the world". As the name suggests, the scenario adds every single civilization in the game in one map and puts them in 5000 B.C.

In this scenario, everyone starts as a one province tribal nation and must build an empire to stand the test of time, all while fighting other civs for dominance.
I've decided to make this mod in addon+, because it adds more civilizations and it fixes a bug that is in the base game where the game freezes if you go to a certain point in the future.
Personally, I recommend you spectate this scenario as it can be really entertaining seeing certain nations rise and fall. However, I'm not stopping you from playing the scenario yourself.

Heres a few things you should know before downloading:
1 - Certain nations are excluded from this scenario like the USA, Canada, and Brazil because I thought it would be interesting to include the states as tribes instead. I didn't do this with every nation though, so you can still play as country's like France, Australia, and South Africa.
2 - Addon+ includes the Canadian provinces as playable civs, but for some reason they don't have names in the base mod. Because of this, I've taken it upon myself to fix these names. The name patch will come with the mod. I've also decided to fix some of the Brazilian state names because of a bug that occurs with some states, like Paraná for example. You see Addon+ uses a unique font that I think replaces the old one, however this font doesn't have characters for words like "á" so if you play the game and look at a nation like Paraná that has an "á" in it's name the game can't render it because it doesn't appear as a character in the font so instead of "Paraná" it will say "Paran". I decided to fix this bug by replacing the "á" with an "a" so that way it can look more proper in game.
3 - There is a bug that can happen in this scenario with AI games, I call this bug the "Anarchist rebels" bug. Basically, sometimes if a rebellion happens instead of the rebels forming into a new country instead the rebels will just disappear and the land they occupied will become neutral land. Something even stranger about this bug is if you look at the land that the rebels use to occupy then you'll see a star on a province, as if its a capital of a nation even though theres no country in that land. Theres no way I know of fixing this bug so you'll just have to deal with it during AI only games.
4 - This mod doesn't download to your game files automatically. You have to mainly put the mod files in the game files. They're will be some tutorial note pads in the mod files that will tell you where to put them.
5 - World Leaders not included, sorry.
So that was everything you had to know. I hope you enjoy this mod!

Make sure to have the latest version of Addon+ installed before setting this up!
Also, as for the 1960s cold war scenario, sorry that progress has been so stagnant. I've been taking a bit of a break from AoC2 as I've started to get a little bored of the game. I've also been working on other personal projects other than AoC2. I still wanna finish the mod and I promise to release it sometime this year.

Age of Civilizations 2: Ultimate Overhaul
We need Scenario & event creators!
Age of Civilizations is a game that focuses on grand strategy, politics and other government driven elements. ŇĀukasz Jakowski however, included something in the game that is rare in other grand strategy games. Customization. Customizing civilizations, leaders, maps, Whole scenarios, events in these scenarios, etc, etc...
This, i think is a very good thing. The only bad thing about this, is that the game focuses more on the custom creative aspect than the realistic grand strategy one. This mod is going to be an overhaul for both these things.
Unfortunately, a mod with the same goals named Addon+ is being created right now. My mod is still in a Debug alpha phase, and i can't release it in a state like this.
This mod will include the following list of things:

      Translated Loading Screens
      Scenarios:
The Great War (World War I) With historical events, leaders and custom civilizations, starting in 1st of January, 1914. (I've started doing it, The events are halfway done!)

Overhauling the World War II Scenario in the following ways:
      Adding historical events with descisions.
Setting an other start time for the Scenario for better readiness.
Giving More corresponding bonuses to leaders given by their personality.
Scenario "Die Folge" (The aftermath) happening right after the first world war, (Yes, believe it or not, lots of stuff happened after the first world war) containing a variety of events.
Scenario "A Modern Mona Lisa" Containing the events of mostly Hitler taking control over germany (1920-1930). If you want to play as a country, that is falling apart at the moment, this is for you.
A Cold War Scenario is also being made, but i'm not promising anything for this one.
      Backgrounds:
Including a large variety of backgrounds, from a realistic one with every little mountain on earth, to a low resolution one for computers that can't handle the mod that good.
      Government, ideologies:
From the leftist Communism the the Extreme right Fascism there are an estimate of ~15 ideologies being made right now including governments that are only avalible on 1 country in real life, or none anymore such as Patriotism (Hungary) Democratic Republic, Deposit Monarchy, so on and so forth. Planning on creating an election system for democratic countries just like in Hearts of Iron IV.
      Languages:
Yes, every Scenario, Custom Leader, Loading screen and such will be translated into other*1 languages.
      Custom Maps:
Custom Maps will be added to the mod, with custom scenarios, so people can create something new on a new map. Current map plans include Hungary, Austria, Germany, Washington, Budapest and The map of Graz.
      Leaders:
Of course, if we make scenarios, we need to make sure, that we have good leaders for each scenario. From a Revolutionary Gavrillo Princip to an alternative timeline Franz Ferdinand, there will be as much leaders as possible.
      Thank you for reading!
Current Status: Started with V0.0.4.8 on 22nd of january 2020

      Systems:
-There will be lots of new stuff in the game, as we just decompiled it. These new system include:
-More types of Vassals (Dominion, Colony, Crown Colony, State, Soviet Socialist State, etc, etc...)
-Democratic elections all four years, if the country is: Democratic, Republic, City State, Patriotism
-Ideological support system (See: hearts of iron 4) as you do your actions
-Changing the values of terrains, planning before war nescessary
-Adding seasons, each one having it's own effects on attacks, income and happiness
      -Adding religions
-Adding a "secret service" action, where up to 400 people can work on a specific assignment, such as:
      Assasination
      Espionage
      Capture
      Recapture
      Special Operations
