No problem mate :D, I always answer questions regarding downloads and releases (if I know something about them that is). I hope your studies go well, and I have hope for this mod (it looks really good as of right now).

And when it comes to editing provinces and the map (I assume you mean making new ones,if not,oh well),I suggest you ask modders that do provinces (Gheovgos,TRModding,or the maker of Stolen Iron).

Thanks for your help and for cheering me up then! To be fair, I'm trying to give this mod all the effort I can, mostly for it to live up to the hopes and expectations it could have.

I'll also look into asking for help to someone who has more experience with editing provinces (adding provinces to the map, etc.), but I don't really want to bother some of the others modders, especially since most are already more occupied with their personal projects ( On the other hand of that opinion, my future plan for the mod/scenario, is to be able to have a team that could help with it's developing).

Any new updates for India?

Started working on the scenario again just today (since this week was pretty difficult, but those are personal matters). For now, I'm expanding over the flags of the "Chhattisgarh Agency" tributary/princely states. At least their flags are easier to find.

1947cind.thumb.gif.32dc874cd44e096ac7134b74aa3419df.gif

From that part (next to Orissa, to the west), I'll go to the left, finishing the different princely states present over the different agencies. Keep in mind that I know that the map above it's not from the 1830's, so I always corroborate what states actually existed at the time.

On another hand, I'm thinking if it's really necessary for landlocked princely states in the middle of India to have a British Red Ensign as an alternative flag? (for the ones on coastal provinces, or at least near the coast it makes more sense). Maybe I'll reserve that "privilege" just to the bigger states, that could possibly gain a coast, or smaller more important states should be included too?.

Anyway, I should probably continue working with this scenario tomorrow, but I just wanted to answer this comments hahaha.

And as always, I thank all the people who take the time to check my (slow) progress towards finishing this project!

The Chattisgarh Princely States:

Well, to be exact, this update it's more of an update of the Chhattisgarh area (since I added Patna before for example), and so giving some "finishing touches" to the Chota Nagpur States.

This time, and unlike with Odisha, I don't have such a firm grasp over the topic, when writing about this area, but I'd say that the concept of Chattisgarh, was 'fairly new' for the time period of the scenario. Chhattigarh was once ruled by the Gond Dynastyes, being the area called Gondwana after the Gondi people,  but after the Maratha conquest of the area the name started being used (an hypothesis tells that the name comes from 36 ancient forts in the area; where Chhattis - 36 six and Garh - fort), and the name sticked down with the British Administration, and to the modern day.

And so, the Bastar state stands as one of the prominent princely states, may it's strenght be enough for it to be the one to stand against the British East India Company? Or perhaps the maybe the now rump state of the Kingdom of Nagpur, headed by a Maratha dynasty, previous rulers of the area, be able to bask over their previous glory. Or, on the other hand, looking at the smaller princely states one could find an answer, as the Gonds could break free under the banner of the state of Raingarh, Sarangarh or Kanker, In an attemp to unify the region of Gondwana one last time. One could even dream of the state of Korea (or "Koriya"), that rules from the coasts of the Indian subcontinent, to the actual region of Korea.

"Example of one of the releasable nations, and it changing it's flag"

* And as the same as the Orissa states, the flags seen in the cores, are the 'Generic/Standard' flags, the "Monarchy" flags of the releasable nations should be seen below*

Kanker - Nandgaon - Khairagarh - Sarangarh - Raingarh - Jashpur

*Changes:

  • Added 4 Starting Nations: KawardhaKoreaSurguja and Ramgarh Raj
  • Added 6 New Releasable Nations: Kanker, Nandgaon, Khairagarh, Sarangarh, Raingarh and Jashpur.
  • Since this civilizations are landlocked, meaning that they won't have a mercantile British Red Ensign, I added more variety/"flavour" to their respective flags, meaning that most of them contain at least a flag for every "major ideology" (Democratic/Standard; Monarchy; Fascism; Communism). And sometimes for other ideologies (Such as Nationalism, Liberalism, Monarchism, and sometimes, the Socialist flag is different from the Communist one).

            Examples:

Surguja:  surguja.png.e3c58de3dda01f1eed99ccf40f3d07fd.png Standard/Democracy; surguja_1.png.82d1582da7eada48c93e8c37e4f1aadb.png Liberalism

Jashpur:  jashpur_f.png.0cee806c5d0021295c5d148113d48140.png Fascism; jashpur_c.png.632878c23b8183cd8255a6682937151e.png Communism and Socialism

Kawardhakawardha_c.png.21f0ee8526662597f571a7236c222c65.png Communism; kawardha_q.png.c4329dbd2860023243f59b5ee908628d.png Socialism.

Nandgaon1096992232_nandgaon_.png.2c32373a843141ada2a13dd4a22a793b.png Monarchism; nandgaon_6.png.15fe86e00c3a97d4970cf012e8902d5f.png Nationalism.

  • For formable nations, I'll eventually add Gondwana and Chhattisgarh, but to be fair, I prefer to first take care of the little states than to add formable nations for now. That doesn't mean I won't add them at some time, but I'd talk about that some more while I answer some comments.

This scenario looks very good, finally Africa has some details 😃

Thanks! I've said it before, but talking about giving Africa details, it really was one of the driving forces that made me decide to work into this scenario. A more correct representation of the colonization of different regions of the world, where they once stood some civilizations, and give the oportunity to the player to try to guide them to a different future. After all, from the warring kingdoms that fought in the lands of the horn of Africa, the different Boer states at the South of said continent, the princely states of India under the British and of Indonesia under the Dutch control (or more exactly, of their trading companies), the divided khanates of the Caucasus, the Japanese Daimyos under the Tokugawa Shogunate, and obviously, the different Native American states that still clinge to their last breaths of "freedom", it gives a whole new perspective to the game one can play, Especially if one prefers to puppet states over than conquering them.

Yes he added releasable nations, you can look earlier updates for that

Thanks for answering the question for me!

On 10/11/2020 at 5:26 PM, Obi-Wan Kenobi said:

In the mod do you add relaseable nations and new formable nations?

I also wanted to answer your question again by saying, YES. There'll be new and reworked formable nations and also releasable ones. For the last one, the releasable, you can see that (the same as @RyanOrleansII typed), I mentioned some of them in earlier updates. On the other topic, for formable nations, as I stated above in this same reply, there are not my immediate priority, but I try to add them or at least to think about them for the specific area that I'm working in. I also have to say that I erased all the previous formable nations of my game folder, but I'll add them back after seeing if they are pertinent to the subject, or If they need to be modified (an example of this would be the "Kingdom of Italy", being added at the same time as normal Italy, but for different nations). I also want to add some "smaller" formable nations, so that the AI could be able to make them appear (Some just being for example, the same civilization, having the necessary cores from the start, but as being a vassal, It'll only form said nation by being able to gain independence). I also have some other major plans for formable nations, especially a little fun one with the USA, but that depends of the rout I'll take for the development of the scenario/mod.

And as always, I thank all of those who are reading for their attention, and I hope to post somewhat into the future, especially since now that I'm basically finished with the Princely states of the Eastern States Agency, the next part to complete is the absolute mess that is the princely states of the Central States Agency and what is left of the states of Rajputana, in other words, a land of "border-gore" that could rival even the Holy Roman Empire, that I hope the game provinces will be able to, or at least attempt to, represent!

[Sorry if I didn't translate this one to english tho. It's basically saying that I'll probably launch an alpha at one point in the future, about how at some point I'll probably develop this scenario into a proper mod, and thanking him for his opinion, stating that a value every comment as it feels good to see the fruits of one's labor.

The project is not dead...It's just going really really slow. That obviously doesn't mean that I haven't been working on it at all. Since I didn't wanted to spam to much about every little state I added, I told myself to wait and finish the work in the indian subcontinent first, and then post about it.

In the meantime, there's 24 new civilizations added, with around 220+ new flags (each new civ has around 7 and 13 flags). To be fair, I need to add more releasable nations to India, a part of the constant effor to nerf the juggernaut that the East India Company consists off.

Some photos (a side note here: I'll mostly start using image hosting sites for my next updates):

Another important factor that makes slower the development of this mod/scenario, is the fact that a good amount of times, I have to take a good amount of time to research about some of the new civilizations, reconstructing flags and coat of arms (coloring coat of arms too), looking through different sites for info, etc.

I doubt it, it's just really slow. There are several different mods to fill up time while this one releases.,I could recommend you some if you want.

Thanks again for answering for me. As you said, and i mentioned above, my progress is slow, but I hope to be able to release a quality product for the community.

And there's really a whole lot of fun mods to play while one waits for this one or the other interesting ones that are in development by the community too.

On a side note, as we are talking about other mods, since this scenario was planned for Addon+, which recently died, I'm not totally sure of what should I do with it in that regard, considering that the scenario is  working in a, now old, version of the game, since Lukash updated it recently (and addon+ is not availble for the new, as far as I know).

Well, that's all for now. I'll try to be more active and update a little quicker.

Thanks again for reading.

The background is from a mod called Addon. If you're an android/ios user,I suggest you to look at the page 20 (or 21,22,23,you get the point) of comments, someone posted the download link there. If you want the background I guess you could ask Reich (the creator) to give the file to you.

Good luck mate!

Sorry for the lack of updates. I'll post some of the progress of this last week, but I won't go much into the details of it (since the area isn't finished at all, and some things are subject to change.

Yes, I've been working on the civilizations of: the North West Frontier, the Princely States of Pakistan, The area of Jammu and Kashmir and the Badakhshan region (and it's neighboring areas)

Different Valleys, inhabited by a whole lot of small ethnic groups, who are very different from each other, but that are similar on their spirit of independence. Pamiri, Wakhi and Sarbani tribes, united under this special principalities, dominate the mountain passages of the, now more forgotten remains, silk road.

As always, finding flags for some of this states was difficult, and keep in mind that the screenshots I'm showing right now aren't the decisive version of some things (for example, the state of "Hunza", appears out of it's borders here, thanks to the inclusion of Gilgit; or the fact I finished the flags of the little principality of "Nagar", but I haven't added the cores to the scenario map).

Age-of-Civilizations-II-NWF-2.png

Age-of-Civilizations-II-NWF-3.png

A "fun fact"/"personal thought": It's surprisingly difficult, but somewhat fun, to design communist flags that include mountains as a general motif, and at the same time, have a distintive "personality" to them:

chitral_c.png.c42a20113b5e4df5260be2c7f1c3dfad.png hunza_c.png.ade5e7ca598a47b2dddc9dba5d7f84b6.png gilgit_c.png.407607510580adb258a51da37cd58f7d.png nagar_c.png.4fbd34d57a5c4b46b7428347b1bc893e.png darwaz_c.png.f7cebd71d94017b1ec252346e84193d5.png wakhan_c.png.ffbe3aa8a9858286e78cc6dbb5b91b3f.png badaksh_q.png.ca0be316c57523f3296ffcd199079308.png

(Chitral - Hunza - Gilgit - Nagar - Darwaz - Wakhan - Badakhshan*)

*The Badakshan one is for the Socialist Ideology, since the communist one doesn't include a mountain, but I wanted to include the flag anyway.

Keep in mind, this flags are (for the most part), fictitious; although they are based around different aspects of the nations they belong to (for example: The Darwaz one is heavily based on one of the Tajikistan S.S.R.'s flags, and contains a coat of arms used for the area during it's existence.)

Don't worry, I can understand pretty well your message hahaha. And thanks for asking how I'm doing, and for your interest for this mod/scenario.

Now going to the topic of answering your real question:

"Why don't you talk to anyone here of the comments, or some friend of your to help?":

There's two things here, for one, my friends aren't really interestend in topics about history, so that's mostly out the table.

On the other hand, I don't really like asking people directly for help; but I stated before that if someone wants to help me in some form with the scenario/mod, I'd gladly take the assistance, be it in the form of a suggestion, comment, question, ideas, flags, etc.

I'd like to say that, when this scenario is finished, and if I have the energy then to start this as a proper mod (completing the objectives set at the first entrance of this thread), it would become an "obligation" to find a way to start a "Development Team" for it (if anyone wants to sign up at some point, just tell me hahaha).

As always, thanks for reading this notes about the developing of this work...and special thanks to @Commieslav for always answering the questions people leave here, and through the whole site too, hahaha.

I hope to bring the next update soon, but until then, bye bye.

No worries, I'm glad I can answer people about this topic. If you do decide to make a dev team, I'd be thrilled to join. I'd be able to do research on the topic and the borders,or at least help you with it,since I have 3 huge libraries in my area (and Internet of course).

Best of luck!

SMALL UPDATE:

Most cores of Eastern, Central and Southern India are finished. I'll go into detail in a future update (talking about formable nations, some decesions about the portrayal of the East India Company, the future of that wrongly depicted Bengal I haven't bothered eliminating, and all other kind of stuff too).

The additions to this version were the Punjab and the, present day, Himachal Pradesh regions.

I also need to give a little bit more of flavour to the Sikh Empire, but as I said, that will come later (in a future update).

Cores:

Map with names:
Age-of-Civilizations-II-IND-Sub-Ct-5.png

I'd say I'm sattisfied with my work here. There's still some pending details that need fixing (Change the Mughal flag, Add some more cores to Southern India and Gujarat, etc), but you can get the general idea of all; the existence of a more complicated India than the one of the vanilla AoC2 Victorian scenario.

With that, I also updated the map which appears at the opening post of this thread:

Age-of-Civilizations-II-DOE-WM-1-1.png

Looks better against the original, doesn't it?

Now, to answer questions:

Oh it would be cool if you open a discord

I have thought of doing this. I really don't understand discord that much, but I'll try to take a look to other mods servers, to get a general idea. So in other words, if the people "want it", I'll try to create one.

Release?

Eh, to answer this better...

No one knows when. The development is slow, because the dev is taking his time with research to make the mod as accurate as possible. I'd predict it to come in 2021 tho, either mid-2021 or late 2021.

Yep, those dates sound the most likely ones. I said I'd try to realease a "beta" version after finishing some details, but I'm not sure if I'll be able before the year ends. I'll try my best to do it tho!

(Also, if this scenerio is completed at one point, It will most likely be moved to a new topic, taking itself as a proper mod).

Well, that's all for this update. I'm sorry if it isn't very long, but I wanted to answer the comments, and let everyone that the project is still being worked on!

As always, thanks for reading this notes.

      AGE OF CONFLICT

Age of Conflict is a mod based on the modern era (1900-present), in which it will be tried to be as exact as possible to the various years in which the mod is based. From completely renewed scenarios of the First World War and the modern world, to completely new scenarios of the Cold War or the interwar period.
This "Mod" I wanted to do a long time ago, I even published a post in the forum, but due to lack of time I had to delete it ... Now I have a little time to create it, so this time I will not delete it.
The idea of the mod is completely inspired by Nova Aurora, my goal is to make something as cool as the previously mentioned mod.
Also, if you have any suggestions for any scenario or if you want to help with the mod (either looking for information or things like that) you just have to tell me
      Discord Server: Coming Soon
      What I plan to add:
Many new scenarios ranging from 1900 to 2021 Rarely seen new civilizations, from very unknown African tribes to rare vassal states in scenarios New formable nations, mostly fictitious, but there will also be historical. Events in all scenarios New music Correct leaders for each scenario, (European, American and the most important countries of Asia, Africa and Oceania) There are more things that I would like to add, such as a new fund or new provinces, but they are things that I do not think I will add due to lack of time.
      Future scenarios:
1900 1910 Great War || 1914 1916 Interwar Period || 1919/1920/1921 (Not decided yet) 1930 Chaco War || 1932 World War II || 1936 1940 1942 1945 1950 1960 1970 1980 1990 Yugoslav Wars || 1991 2000 Modern World || 2021 (Scenarios such as the Second Sino-Japanese War or the Russian Revolution will not be included separately, as they will be included in the annual scenarios)
      Progress: 2%
      Screenshots: Coming Soon
