SMALL UPDATE:

Most cores of Eastern, Central and Southern India are finished. I'll go into detail in a future update (talking about formable nations, some decesions about the portrayal of the East India Company, the future of that wrongly depicted Bengal I haven't bothered eliminating, and all other kind of stuff too).

The additions to this version were the Punjab and the, present day, Himachal Pradesh regions.

I also need to give a little bit more of flavour to the Sikh Empire, but as I said, that will come later (in a future update).

Cores:

Map with names:
Age-of-Civilizations-II-IND-Sub-Ct-5.png

I'd say I'm sattisfied with my work here. There's still some pending details that need fixing (Change the Mughal flag, Add some more cores to Southern India and Gujarat, etc), but you can get the general idea of all; the existence of a more complicated India than the one of the vanilla AoC2 Victorian scenario.

With that, I also updated the map which appears at the opening post of this thread:

Age-of-Civilizations-II-DOE-WM-1-1.png

Looks better against the original, doesn't it?

Now, to answer questions:

I have thought of doing this. I really don't understand discord that much, but I'll try to take a look to other mods servers, to get a general idea. So in other words, if the people "want it", I'll try to create one.

Eh, to answer this better...

Yep, those dates sound the most likely ones. I said I'd try to realease a "beta" version after finishing some details, but I'm not sure if I'll be able before the year ends. I'll try my best to do it tho!

(Also, if this scenerio is completed at one point, It will most likely be moved to a new topic, taking itself as a proper mod).

Thank you!

...I really don't understand why someone posted it's email here 🤔.

Well, that's all for this update. I'm sorry if it isn't very long, but I wanted to answer the comments, and let everyone that the project is still being worked on!

As always, thanks for reading this notes.

It's way better than the original!! I can't wait for this to be released, I'll try my best to play this although I'm on Android. And it doesn't matter if the update isn't big,as long as it's there, it's good. If this becomes a full on mod, that'll be epic.

Cheers!

"SMALL UPDATE": "FORMABLE NATIONS FOR NORTHERN AND CENTRAL INDIA"

Hello!, and sorry to bring another small update instead of a bigger one again.

Though this time I want to talk about a topic a lot of people seem to ask about --> Formable Nations.

For now, the ones I'm going to show don't have implemented borders in the game, but since I finished with their flags, I thought it would be a good idea to showcase them:

Note: Every releasable nation has around 11 and 15 flags aproximately, but I won't post all of them, trying to make them unique of each other (or at least to look "cool" or "historically correct"), since when the mod releases, the player can discover them by themselves.

1.- Orissa:

I've previously shown the different princely states of the area (The image below comes from the first page of this thread)...

Age of Civilizations II Orissa1.png

So, you can expect that the ones present there, plus the releasable civilizations in the general area, will be able to unite it under the banners of Orissa; finally recovering their slowly dying culture?

Here are some of those banners, and their ideologies:

orissa_m.png.4da18e54bddb3b057fa49e79dfc694d2.png    orissa_7.png.52f2da065771c74c875ab7b6636f4ab6.png    orissa_q.png.22c773bd8f8302e1d30cb80c3239b19b.png    orissa_6.png.32b875e0b4038083aee5506a3af14983.png

Monarchy - Paternal Autocrat - Socialism - Nationalism.

Some info about the banners:

The standard flag is pretty similar to the "Monarchy" one, having just clearer colors. The triband itself represents the colors of "Lord Jagannath", "non-sectarian deity" commonly represented in the area of Odisha. The proposals of flags for the state including this colors are the first to pop-up when searching about an ensign for it. A fun fact is that the Kalahandi "standard" flag has the same colors! so I changed the tone just a little bit, to distinguish them better.

Another common symbol is the "Wheel of Kornark", even appearing in the current seal for the state. And talking about that same seal, you can observe that I used it for the Paternal autocrat flag, albeit removing the lion statue, and including a bigger wheel.

The same as I said before, the region will change depending of the ideology (Example: most ideologies uses "Orissa"; but the conservatitve/more British aligned goes by "Orissa").

2.-Gondwana:

For this one, I don't really have a map, although I can aver that the states which have were ruled by a Gond Dynasty (Ex: Raigarh), or have a significant Gondi majority in their population (Ex: Kanker), will be able to form it.

Some of the flags:

gondi_6.png.9e1826b565568fdda7236c874bec8367.png    gondi_d.png.9b8dae551dcd708fdc612a679998d4e1.png    gondi_m.png.aaee455f6daefa15de2247b8a3e57774.png    gondi_f.png.8752521d915bde5afcf4ab049af295fc.png

Nationalism - Conservatism - Monarchy - Fascism

Most of the "non-secular" flags include the Parsapen symbol, This symbol is
wrought in statuary form, drawn on religious altars, and printed in books, used upon flags, and on emblems of Gond associations, so it seemed as an obvious symbol to include in those flags; It represents part of the identity of these people's.

The other predominant symbolism is are those seven colored stripes you can see in most of the flags. The seven horizontal stripes represent the seven primary Gond phrateries, with each color being associated with a phratery. The arrow represents a deva, and the number of arrows represents the number of "Devas" associated with said phratery.

Tigers and Lions are also represented in many different Gondi archeological sites, temples, and organization logos.

3.- Rajasthan/Rajputana:

The "Land of the Kings"/"Land of the Rajputs", depending of which name you use. There's a good amount of famous princely states here, and a good amount are more powerful than the ones in other parts of the indian subcontinent.

main-qimg-90bee2717b44d57b672587fa47786b

As you see, some known names stand out here: Bikaner, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Jaipur and Udaipur being some of the most famous ones.

The states of the area will be able to unify the area then under their hand, although the conquest will probably be bloody, and one has to consider that Ajmer-Merwara is under direct control of the British East India Company, so it won't be an easy task.

Some of the banners available for this formable nation:

   rajput.png.6f4244d0083fd448451afe05aaa5ca38.png    rajput_q.png.9b3bb6566f221cfaba53cfa79c0138f1.png    rajput_r.png.52c49e9f42b4b15bdd4b76f6694f1182.png    rajput_f.png.d1827b0201b475424b2d0a77aa21e4e2.png   rajput_5.png.1338d2799b1e0604099764a3e7aa78a2.png

Standard - Comunism - Republic - Fascism - Authoritarian Democracy

The sun was a sem-obvious choice for it, being somewhat considered as an "unofficial banner" for the Rajput people. The colors used vary, but I tried to mantain the color palette used by the princely states of the area. There's some specific emblems used here and there too (Fascism using the "Rajput Rifles" logo, and Communism using an emblem of one of the Universitys in the area). Some flags correlate with others in their design, but you'll be able to see it once the mod releases.

On a side note, I've been playing the new TNO mod adaptation for AoH2 made by @Aryan (give it a try; it has pretty good quality), and had this idea too:

rajput_!.png.6d415b58c3094c408530575e043ad630.png -  Ultranational-Socialism(Burg-Sys?) Rajasthan

"There is only despair under the Rajput sun".

4.- Matsya Union:

A more "obscure" formable nation,  a state of India which only existed for about one year before being merged into Rajasthan. Formed on 17 March 1948 by the merger of four erstwhile princely states, Alwar, Bharatpur, Dholpur, and Karauli after accession; perhaps the player will be able to change it's future.  The original Matsya Kingdom reffers to one of the solasa (sixteen) Mahajanapadas (great kingdoms) during the vedic era, as described in the hindu epic Mahabharta.

Mastya-Union.jpeg

Matsya Union map, showing the states that will be able to form it.

-WxWxakYrw5Z-ZJGVtrDYBryML_v3814k8rGKFgG

The original "Matsya Kingdom", which seems to be bigger than the actual union.

A fun fact about the "Matsya" region is that, the "Matsya Festival" is held in Alwar every year in the last week of November to celebrate it's culture and adventure.

Another thing is that, it's name will vary depending of the ideology, specially considering that the Matsya Union also went by different names such as "United States of Matsyaor "Matsya Sangh"

Some of the flags:

matsya_1.png.35d8e66026c86d899a927f0d28533bb6.png    matsya_8.png.5df8a1e041684d0a08ed7f1d3c133af6.png    matsya_6.png.427e2cf7ef486f4f920f4f4d62b93586.png   matsya_c.png.680fb801943a46f33545429069e1c9e4.png

Liberalism - Reactionary - Nationalism - Communism

Matsya is Sanskrit for "fish". Matsya is sacred to Hindus as it is one of the avatar (incarnation) of Hindu deity Vishnu which has been described in detail in Matsya Purana. The Matsya kingdoms usually had the fish in their state emblem, so I took it as a general motiff.

The four stars are also a recurrent symbol that I decided to use; representing the four states that comprise the union. And talking about those states, the colors used are mostly the ones in the flags of those princely states.

Finally, and sort of a fun fact too, the Nationalist flag is based off the "Inter-Allied Rhineland" flag from the HOI4 mod "Fuhrerreich"; itself also based of a "Peace/Victory" Allies flag of WW1. I used since I liked the way it combined the flags, while you can still recognize them.

5.- and 6.- ... and also 7 and 8 (?).- Punjab, Punjab and Punjab?...and Panjab?:

Another anomaly for this formable nations, since Punjab was a former unit, which is now divided into East (Hindu), and West (Pakistani) since the "split" of the British Raj.

But that's not all, the region gets more complicated, since there's also the existance of the Sikh states, which once dominated the area.

The three religions/cultures use different motiffs, so it would be strange to play as a former muslim princely state, and as you unite the area, your flag suddenly acquires a Khanda. Because of that, I decided to create different "Punjabs", for different princely states.

Though a more "general" figure which I mantained over most of the flags is the one of the "Five Rivers", since...well, The word Punjab, compound of two Persian words, literally means 'The Land of Five Waters'  (referring to the rivers Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi, Sutlej, and Beas).

Here's some of the Hindu-Panjab flags:

punjabi_6.png.c7e9166cdc5b2cc8d01a0d25f8543aa5.png    punjabi_c.png.529ac5a9e43096af5c3e59ddde2badb3.png    punjabi_p.png.806ffcd0d7ef9f5511082b5c0a30fca5.png    punjabi_8.png.4f1482956e018323ce9d675afce6af5c.png    punjabi_m.png.34f62cc4c237448c42a444c340def5dd.png

Nationalism - Communism - Military Junta - Reactionary - Monarchy

Some of the unique motifs of the Hindu-Panjab flags are the use of the "Regimental Insignia" pertaining to the "Punjab Regiment", one of the oldest regiments still in service in the Indian Army (Active since 1761, making it a certain symbol for some of the area's flags). For the nationalist flag I used elements of the "Hindu Mahasabha"; right wing (to "far-right" some would say), political party stablished, at first at least, mostly inside Punjab. The sun is another common symbol, but I'll talk about it latter.

On the other side, here are some of the Muslim-Panjab flags:

punjabpk_7.png.086fcf5e70154857fe47010d9950527b.png    punjabpk_f.png.a004ef41ea1f342765e02e00f479c956.png    punjabpk_c.png.9926395ec44a8b5689a9e7eb8cf7e06d.png    759620901_punjabpk_.png.c218844aa63be32156ebcf54044355f7.png    punjabpk_5.png.10a3b723756046318eba74a866ddc90b.png

Paternal Autocrat- Fascism - Communism - Monarchism - Autoritharian Democracy

A general "resource" I used for constructing this flags, were the elements of the already existing one of the region of  "Pakistani Punjab", meaning the crest, the crescent, colors, etc. You'll also be able to spot some other elements such as the coat of arms of the university of the Punjab university (albeit slightly modified, to look similar to other coat of arms of the area...again, I'll talk about it later), the peacock (I'll have to apologize for this one, since I really can't remember were I read that it was the "regional bird" of the state), and some components of the different crests of the Pakistani Military Units, specially the one stationed in Lahore.

...And so, why did I mention the coat of arms and the sun?

Well, when under the British "administration", the region went under another (not really widespread), symbol.

1612640627_brit_PunjabCoA(color).png.1148163fe199497f2b5d2b91236fd6db.png

A badly colored version of the Coat of arms...It was difficult to reconstruct, since the version I used as a base, had a quite awful sun, and the "purpure" color is represented by those diagonal lines, making it hard to paint inside the area.

You can even see it in the Conservative flags of both previously shown "Punjab's"!:

punjabi_d.png.30ab2abffefae8bf88d3619f610005ec.png - Hindu.

punjabpk_d.png.347904fe9deb2f07d84c49e7a0edc04c.png - Muslim.

But that brings us to: "What would be the symbols of a "United Punjab" ?"...

...I don't really know. It should include either the three major religions/culture symbols (Hindu, Muslim and Sikh), or use more "secular" ones (maybe taking inspiration of the British Coat of Arms used for the area). This Punjab is still in the works, but I wanted to ask if it is a good idea to focus on it 🙂.

And speaking of all that, we still have one last Punjab to sort...which isn't finished too (but you'll see why).

The "Sikh Punjab", considering the area after being unified by a Sikh princely state, it has a little problem to tackle...Which is it's identity, what are their borders, and how does it distinguish itself from Khalistan.

First, to It needs to be stated that the "Sikh Empire" was also known as the "Panjab State(or even as the "Empire of Lahore", since it's control center lay there), but to call the extent of it just Panjab would be an insult, as the Empire deserves to be a formable nation on it's own right (Obviously, the "Sikh Panjab", will be able to form it...as part of another formable maybe?).

Khalistan also comprises a bit more than Punjab, so I don't really want to use the name. Since if it ends up being another formable, Punjab could also be able to form Khalistan.

So, in conclusion...Sikh Punjab needs to be a little more work, and the other Sikh nations too. They'll probably work as a "System", with the Sikh empire being the last in the line of "formables" (working like EU4's "end-tag" nations); same as the other Punjabs will be able to form India or Pakistan, depending of their previous unifier culture/religion (obviously, this is not a religion/culture system, since I'm just restricting the formation of a civilization to certain states...but it helps simulate that).

I'll try to find a way to port it to android hahaha. Also...It's going to become a FULL MOD...once the scenario is done tho.

As always, thank's for your support!

Thank you! I'll try to finish the "beta" soon so the people waiting can finally get a taste of playing it hahaha. And if it motivates you to create something similar, go for it! The community always values more content, and even it's good to see the different takes people go for when working with the same basic/initial idea.

And that's all for this time, I'll keep working in the scenario now. Sorry if this was a long read; At first I thought it was only going to be another "small update" but I got carried away in the inspiration (and I wanted to show off a little about how I researched/investigated the different topics concerning the scenario's civilizations).

Also If anyone has any idea for more ideas for more formable nations or some criticism/objections with the ones here, feel free to write them down in a comment!...and about anything corresponding to the mod really!

As always, thank's for reading, and I hope to be able to update soon again!

Sorry for the late response, I was writing the previous update when the comment was posted, and I just now was able to answer to it.

Well, the response went in the form of said update hahaha. After this part of India is finished, I'll try to add some more flavour to the Deccan zone, or maybe I'll add fix some details about China, Flags of some German States, or adding Native States from Australia and North America...I'm still not sure about what should I ask next.

Thanks for answering, the response came earlier than i thought haha. I've been asking updates since the mod is getting scarce updates now so it's good to have an early respinse, you're making a great mod and i will sure play when released, Victorian era is one of my favourite parts of history and have a mod that detailed about this era is so great for me.

About Kerem's post, that is because some things are happening lately in the forums, but you're focused with the mod so idk if that's of your importance.

Anyway, continue this marvelous work and have a great day.

If I were making this, I would make the American territories it's own nations, but under puppet control by the established country. (no real autonomy mechanic of course, and those territories weren't fully integrated)

But the work with India is splendid! I never even heard of the Matsya Union, (as it did exist for only one year)

I've actually thought before about doing that; But to be fair, it hasn't been implemented yet. Mosltly because I have to search the seals of the different territorys present at the start date, (If I'm not wrong, would be The Florida Territory, the Territory of Arkansas, The Territory of Missouri, and the Territory of Michigan), considering those with some actual control of course (Not like the Oregon Country or the "Unorganized Territories"-Which will mostly be tribes, with the US, or other territories of it, having cores in those provinces).

800px-United_States_1828-1834.png

"Map Above, showing the territories".

If you take a look at how I divided "Canada" and it's provinces before, you can get an idea of what I'll do with the US teritories then.

Age-of-Civilizations-II-Canada1.png

"Like Above, having said Administrative Divisions separated. In this case,  being vassals of the UK".

With Mexico, I think I'll do the same too (Considering the case of the "Californias" being under some governors with autonomy ideas (more like rebellious ones), and Yucatan being a republic under it's suzeranity too. Australia should have a similar system too.

In the end, I haven't implemented those things yet mostly because I've been busy with finishing with the Indian Sub-Continent, and my overall focus on America was in finishing Canada's territories and solving the dilemma of the Oregon Country.

And yeah, the United States of Matsya comes from a really obscure background (as a lot of proposed and former Indian States). It didn't even have a flag (like most Indian administrative divisions), but I really wanted to include it, to give some flavour to Alwar and the releasble nations of the little region there.

Also, thank you for your suggestion and your support. I'm glad people are still waiting for this mod!.

"Small Update": Southern India Princely States and Cores:

Hello, here we have another "small update" for this scenario/mod...so let's get straight to the point.

Kolhapur, Hyderabad, Mysore and The Karnatik/Arcot:

Age-of-History-II-IND-Sub-Ct6.png

Kolhapur and Karnatak are the totally new ones here: Kolhapur, the orange state over the Portuguese territory of Goa, being a playable nation from the start, ruled by a Maratha dynasty (hence it's flag, showing the typical shape and color of those). On the other hand we have the Nawab of the Carnatic, covering the eastern coast of southern India, a former state, who's soil served as the battleground of the Carnatic Wars, and that saw it's own demise after the British annexed the Nawabdom under the "Doctrine of Lapse".

And we also see some familiar faces; Hyderabad (hyderabad_m.png.e2e54b24d335071595780defa94ddbbf.png) and Mysore (mysore_m.png.21df726d93c456c30d775d02fee0cc31.png).

I added both of them to the game as separate from the ones who were already present. They have different colors and flags than the ones included in "vanilla" AoH2. I also added cores for them which include previously controled areas (like Mysore's extent from before the Fourth Anglo-Mysore war).

I did the same with Baster, but I forgot to include a screenshot of it hahaha.

Some more of the same, with a change of name: Awadh and Tehri Garhwal.

Age-of-History-II-IND-Sub-Ct-7.png

I didn't want to erase nor change things about the states of Oudh and Garhwal, to not mess things up with the 1440 scenario. So instead, I added them again to the game, albeit using their alternate names. They also include more flags! (as almost all of the princely states I have added to the scenario).

So now, Southern India looks like this:

Age-of-History-II-South-Asia-1.png

...

And now, to answer questions:

10 hours ago, RyanOrleansII said:

You plan on do something with the Qing Empire, Japan and the states in East and Southrast Asia?

Short answer: Yes, yes, and yes.

"Little bit longer" answer: Yes, but most of it will be post-beta release, that way, people can comment what's lacking in the areas.

For South East Asia (SEA)I have advanced a little, but not a lot in this zone, having great contrast between one part and the other. On one side, we have the princely states of Malaya and Indonesia, which have a lot of effort put into them (adding almost 30+ states, from Java, Borneo, Sumatra, Bali, Flores, and the Malayan Penninsula). But the Northern part of SEA is lacking a bit in some things (I added the Shan Kentung State, Cambodia in its "Dark Ages version", and added some flags for Vietnam/Dai Nam), but that's a result of It being one of the first parts I worked into (when I wasn't that good with all these modifying things),  and the same goes for all of East Asia.

"General Area of the North of SEA":

Age-of-Civilizations-II-SEA-Sub-Ct-1.png

Japan has some details with the addition of some of the Daimyos involved into the later "Meiji Restoration", included the Matsumae domain (a sort of "March"/borderlandand in the southern tip of Ezo/Hokkaido, protecting the Shogunate's border), and added new Ainu nation in the northern islands of Sakhalin and Kurile. Some of the Daimyos who allied themselves with the Imperial faction have special Monarchist flags.

"Different parts of Japan, from North to South"

Age-of-History-II-JP-1.png

Age-of-History-II-JP-2.png

For China, regarding the Qing, the most development I made (almost nothing), was regarding Manchuria (as you can see from the image above); changed the name of it to "Guandong", changed it to a color which was more representative of it being a Qing sub-state, added more flags and names to it, etc. (I need to repeat the same process to the other "sub-states" of the Dynasty, like for example, with Qinghai or Sichuan). I also tried to research some more about the nomadic people's of Western China/Qing Central Asian territories, but I haven't been able to find much on the topic of flags and symbols regarding the Ili region (although there's a lot regarding Uygurs and related ethnicithies). I'll try to look into the topic of the region of Tibet too in this regard.

Eh, it's bound to happen, but there's not much I can do regarding that. I'll test at some point how slow it goes in mobile, but in PC it goes somewhat fine.

If only there was a team of 7 people doing their best to make the mod even more amazing 🤭

Yeah, I'm sure that the team developing it would be working reaaallly hard into making the mod an amazing product.

Well, that's all for now, thanks for reading this!

If your device can run BEII it should probably be able to run this too.

I ported a test version of the mod to my android device. The scenario runs at somewhat similar speed to the one of the 1440 start date scenario.

Also, yeah, the mod now works for mobile (I finally figured how to port to androind), so that's some good news.

On the other hand, I'm in the middle of fixing some issues before the beta release, like:

-The technology levels.

-Some missing cores.

-Add some formable nations (at some point I erased all of them, so I could revamp them).

-The starting Top civs of the Ranking (since in this version, France, the Qing, the Ottoman Empire, and Russia seem to be considered more powerful than the UK, but that could be fixed with technology levels).

-The fact that the British East India Company becomes an unstoppable juggernaut and the N°1 Great Power, with incredible industry and the fourth largest population in the world (I'm playing my first campaign as Hyderabad, and seriously...the thing is a monster that I'm not sure I'll be able to defeat).

Screenshot01-Victorian-Addon-beta-v01.jp

"The top 20, and the pain of fighting against the EIC"

-Some missing flags.

In other words, there's some minor things I have to take care about. But the mod is already able to work correctly (the most difficult part was porting it to an a..pk, but with that being done, everything else is easier to work around) That's all for now. If anyone has any recommendation or suggestion, feel free to leave them down here!

When you plan to release the beta?

Well, I'm still balancing things out (trying to get the EIC and the Dutch East India Company, to not brake free so easily), and fixing some minor bugs (for example, there were some civs that although they had a "civ" file, you couldn't find them while searching them in game). I added some more formable nations, and kept the previous ones from Addon+ (though for the real release I won't keep them), and even replaced some old nations with newer versions (mostly some chinese vassal states).

Also, I want to state that this beta is a somewhat "bare-bones" version of the scenario, but I wanted to release it because:

a) I wanted people to finally be able to play it at least in some form.

b) The start of the scenario is basically done.

c) I need criticism about some things regarding the scenario.

And finally, the beta of the mod/scenario is going to be released only as for android (for now, since I somehow mixed some things up whit the pc version), and it's going to be public...in between later today or at most tomorrow. I took the decision mostly because the need of feedback to fix some things, and to give an early christmas present to all the people that have been waiting for the release.

I don't know if someone asked you, but could you pass me the background download link? From already thank you very much

@Commieslav already answered; but yes, it's Addon+'s background (since the scenario is made for Addon+...but I want it to become independent of it, since using it as a base for an scenario is fine, but using it as a base for a mod feels kinda wrong).

Well, I'll try to finish porting the new version of the a.p.k. later. And a side note: The a.p.k. doesn't replace Addon+'s one, so it won't overwrite it...meaning you can have both versions installed.

Thanks for reading, and I hope to bring the scenario's beta soon for all to enjoy :) .
