Due to that the austrian empire was able to survive longer and take Control in the German states with the exception for prussia and hanover. Hanover later got partially integrated into the German proper. The Great War In the great war the austrian territories in the east partially collapsed. But even though the habsburgs lost in the east they won in the west against a bonapartist french empire, the Brand duchy of Luxembourg and the dutch seven provinces and forced the new formed french kingdom into a personal Union. While in luxembourg and the netherlands new habsburg monarchs got crowned. And with a huge part of western and central europe the imperial union of europe got proclaimed.
