As technology progresses, you have better and better units that siege faster and faster. In fact, a siege with modern units probably takes half a second. If you want it to be even faster, you can change it in the JSON file with units. In modern scenarios there will be virtually no siege. 

However, you must remember that there are also sieges in modern times. Sometimes even lastimg several years:

• siege of Leningrad (3 years, 1941-1944)
• Siege of Sadr City (4 years, 2004-2008)
• siege of Mariupol (3 month, 2022)
• and much more

That is why I think that everything is okay with mechanics presented by Mr. Łukasz. Nothing needs to be changed
