HistoL 0 Posted October 27, 2024 The customisation system (particularly the editor) of Age of History II was quite fun and it was easy to spend hours creating in-depth scenarios with events, alliances and cores. I was looking forward to an expansion of the editor (like I'm sure many others were) as one of the things that made AoHII great was the customisation, however in AoHIII, in its current state, it feels like the editor has been stripped of various elements that made it accessible and fun to use. Events are now supposed to be manually created, and while it is not impossible, it does make it less accessible to the average user who wishes to make scenarios out of personal enjoyment, without needing to shift through various lines of code in a text editor. Another expectation of mine was the ability to customise mission trees in the scenario editor itself, however this isn't the case. Would it be possible for the editor to receive some sort of expansion in features and accessibility in the future? Alongside this, it is also quite disappointing that non pre-existing civilisations aren't able to be added or released in-game, leading it to break the historical immersion while playing a grand campaign, leading countries quite limited in their historical contexts to continue existing way into the modern era. The ability to release/add new civilisations in accordance with the changing time era or for immersive purposes (such as new dynasties and countries that would be more fitting for the 16th century, but are unavailable due to their non-presence in the base scenario). These requests seem to have been addressed a few times before, I just hope that there are indeed plans to make the game more customisable and sandbox-like, as these were some of the main features that made AoH more fun and preferable to other grand strategy titles.
