selenhogamer 20 Posted January 25, 2024 I think religions should have special mechanics so they dont be just another bonus. Theres some mechanic suggestion for christianity: Apostolic Christianity(E. Orthodox, O. Orthodox, Assyrian): For every country theres a patriarch, they have two values, opinion (-100 to +100) and authority (0-100%). Opinion will define the positive and negative bonuses the patriarch will concieve, while authority determines how impactiful these bonuses are. Both values changes trough events and decisions. Roman Catholic: Some provinces have a cardinal that are loyal to the province owner, giving them influence in the Curia which can be invested in bonuses or increase the chance to control the Papacy, controlling the Papacy allows you to declare Crusades and can appoint cardinal for a high cost. The pope also has authority for each nation ( for Catholics theocracies is always 100% ), a country with low papal authority can set up a Anti-Pope, work similar to a patriarch and other countries with low authority can also recognize the Anti-Pope. Protestant Christianity(Anglican, Reformed, Lutheran): It has patriarchy mechanics but authority have an extension, authority can be invested to aquire dogmas, that are a extra bonus and are just national and there can only have 5 active dogmas at the same. Some dogmas are controversial and there must have a debate to activate it, otherwise the church opinion and authority may decrease. Evangelical Christianity(Anabaptist, Methodist, Congregational): Works like Protestant but theres no authority and instead opinion is invested for dogmas.
