Age of History 3 - How to upgrade army

I started in the earliest scenario possible, a.k.a Fall of The Eternal City. I wanted to try and colonize Greenland and Iceland as Britain but... It's not possible, even with Settlers. I am now perkele stuck in this situation, having colonized a bit of Ukraine in hopes of more territory appearing to be able to be colonized but- no luck. Is there any way to get the wasteland territory orrrr..?

After countless hours of playing the game, I found myself wanting to take a screenshot of my hard-earned borders. That's not a simple task however since there isn't a mode highlighting the borders while discoloring the rest of the map like there was in aoh2.
