OwnM3Z0 1,101 Posted April 22, 2024 Dark Ages, Just like golden ages come after an empire reaches a certain level of scientific, economic, or military level, but the opposite, you see, after you finish the golden age missions and are in a golden age, after a randomized set of time you would get certain disaster events that will cause massive debuffs that damage economy/technology or military such as for economy its market crash or economic crisis for economic golden age, ending the golden age and causing alot of issues, for science it would stagnate over time during economic crisis for example and faster in wars, causing the scientific golden age to end after 2 consecutive wars or 10 peaceful years, from then you would get events like a library burning down causing you to lose a technology tree or lose research on ones you were researching, this would start to snowball to losing multiple tech trees until you are reset to your starting tech trees, for military a big defeat or a drop in manpower due to losing provinces/people will end it right away and you will lose many military tech trees slowly AI Will not be able to counter these, and will slowly deteriorate, unlike golden ages dark ages do not end after a certain time, the only way to end a dark age and get rid of the debuffs and deterioration is through economic/military and scientific reforms like adding more buildings to help out, after decreasing the debuff by 40% (for example if its 50% slower research it would end at 20%) and from there the debuffs would go away quite quickly, its a very easy thing to add, all you need is to add a few debuffs under certain conditions (like golden ages) and like 5 events and its ready to go thoughts @Łukasz Jakowski?
