Elections in Democracy government type

Recommended Posts

Hello Lukasz, I really want you to put the historical mode in Age of History 3, just like EU4 and HOI4. Otherwise, wouldn't it be very strange for Ming and Algeria to fight for no reason in the 1440 scenario?

There should definitely be elections and if possible, real parties and characters can be used. Moreover, after the sultans die, an event will come and we can make a choice between their children. What is your idea?

After elections prime minister/president should change?

Who wins elecations, is it randomly or by some actions?

In government.json setting whether elections will be held and when or is the head of state changing, e.g. Aristocratic Republic (1 year).

- Factions:

Set by a separate partypolitical.json can be unlocked by technology like modern politics. We can set in the scenario parliament who should rule. Elections should be a mechanic that by decision we can influence who wins. Mapmod for political parties

Hi Lukasz.

I have a recommendation for election types in the game for democratic civilization.

I think there would be several political parties in every democratic country and each of them have some variables (such as: popularity, influence, budget etc) and the party with most overall variable will win the election

Also, these variables amounts can change by player decisions and events

This is a simple suggestions for election system but I think it could be a good start for it

I think for a specific party to win you need to gain the populations support by boosting support using some special points, and you can form a Coalition with another party if they accept but that will give you a debuff

Maybe there should also be an option to ban extremist parties like fascists and other totalitarians ideology parties

I think the election results will depend on the country's performance during the rule of a president/prime minister. For example if the economics of the nation collapse than the president/prime minister will almost certainly lose. Also you should be able to rig elections in favor of the currently ruling president/prime minister. If a communist/fascist party takes power, the ideology of the nation will change and elections will be outlawed. For const. monarchies there should also be a monarchist party which aims to give all the power to the king/queen of the nation, and if they win, the nation will be an absolute monarchy. The way parties can win is by the player promoting the party they want to win in their nation, however if the presidential term of the president was good it wouldn't change by much.

Or by support you can say party/ideology popularity or support which depend on percentage of population supporting them in the civilization. Ideology/ party popularity can be set in the scenario editor for each civilization

I would like for elections to have custom political parties/candidates the player could make in the editor. If the player didn't make any specific parties/candidates, the AI could just pick from the ideology list. If elections are random or not... I think the elections could reflect the country's current situation. Like, if there's a lot of debt and instability, authoritarian candidates would be elected, or multiple candidates would take charge but be quickly dismissed like it happens sometimes. I do think the player should have a say in it if they want to go a specific path, however. And it would be nice to have historically accurate elections for historical scenarios. That's probably a lot though. I think I speak for everyone when I say you shouldn't go too hard on yourself, heh

I do agree that the leader should change after the election. I think that there should be events during an election season where you can pick which party to boost, which will help them win the election.

Left, Right, and Center are alright for the base game, but it should be customizable so people could add more detailed parties, things like Far-Right and Far-Left

Yeah but it should have some probabilities there too.

For examples a low happiness and popularity should not be a strong guarantee that turn the country into a liberal democracy; but it should increase the chance for a liberal party to take control of that country

Personally, I believe that elections should work based on how free politics is, for example, we can carry out political scams and have a political party win for no reason, or carry out coups and eliminate the reputation of a political party, of course, if We do that, it may generate national unrest, or even bad relations with other countries. There would also be the possibility that we could become a dictatorship just for wanting to maintain the president that we want, for example, Putin, Maduro, Mao, and others. The policies of the parties will generate problems or bonuses in the economy, diplomacy, proximity to the population, social classes and even in the way we manage colonization or the Kingdom, country or empire. The actions that generate the victory of a party will give us -10% of political freedom, which can prevent the creation of more parties and the increase in corruption. Also, the parties will be able to give us their own policies, such as extending the number of years of a president to power, Martial Law and even xenophobia.

It may even be that if +60-70% of the population is of communist ideology and the democratic party wins, the nation would break in two, for example: Communist China, democratic China, the name can be established once one of the two sides gain power, changing its name from Communist or democratic China to:

communist: Popular Republic of (country)

democratic: Democratic Republic of (Country)

If possible it should be customizable to every civilization.

I suggest the creation of sub-ideologies. In democracy, the sub-ideologies would be represented by a political party, with a custom name and color.
Other ideologies like fascism and communist could have sub-ideologies, but without elections.

Definitively not random, at least in human-controlled civilizations. Actions like propaganda to influence the popularity of parties would be good.

There should be left, center, right? As a participating political parties? If there is any custom types.: yeah it should
After elections prime minister/president should change?: yeah

Who wins elecations, is it randomly or by some actions?: like make some decisions system and there will be propaganda some other things, that will support one party popularity.

Hello lukasz i have a question i have noticed that kings in the game have ages meaning they will die and there will be a new king and there are also many advisors now the problem is that you have included pictures for kings and advisors and in a Democratic country there will be a new president every 5 years so i am guessing they too will have a picture of them in the game too (i am guessing these pictures are ai generated) but the problem is that there is a lot of countries and people who wanna play a long game for example 300 years there will be at atleast 5-10 leaders for one country who will die and new leaders will be made (i am guessing they will also have pictures of themselves) so my question is how will you add so many presidents/kings/advisors/generals in the game for every different country with a picture and name and that there will be new if one dies for that country

Lukazs should probably make some random system to make random leaders and names

I believe there should an entirely new tab for decisions where you will be able to boost popularity of your desired party. Once the player have selected their desired party, they can influence the election process through decisions like:

'Visit Rural Towns' = +5% Support
'Promise Better Worker Rights' = +10% Support
'Land, Bread, Peace!' = +15% Support

They could exist regional parties, like in Spain with the Catalan and Basque separatists, these parties would have influence in their regions specifically and in all elections it would be necessary to make coalition with them to govern in case of don't winning with a great percentage the elections.

Maybe it sholud be corelated with relations with other countries. If we have bad relations with countries where ruler is from left wing, in our country rigt wing has higher propability to win. If someone wants AI in his country to choose the right wing he sholud keep good relations with coutries where ruler is from right wing and bad relations with coutries where ruler is from left wing

Actually, if democratic governments have a parliament;

- For states with an aristocratic ideology, a council of 3 to 10 individuals can be added (in this system, when the leader dies, someone from the council takes over)

- Monarch-Son system can be added to states that adopt the ideology of Monarchy, such as the Ottoman Empire, which has a "prince" system (In this system, when the ruler dies, one of his sons takes the throne)

- States governed by religious ideology, such as the Papacy, can have a religious council and the religious council can govern the state

- other similar ideologies can be achieved with this council system, I can't think of much innovation in specific ideologies such as nazism, socialism and communism because they are one man regimes.

I think there should be a way to help the leader I prefer to win the election, by making some general actions to the population.

These actions, let's say, making a public campaign on big cities, announcing policies that will take place once the candidate wins the elections or even being able to make some of these, such as donating to charity during the elections. The decisions can appear on a different special tab that will appear during electorial period, or even through focus threes, which will boost the popularity of each party.

And each party and candidate, within the country, should make decisions and moves to increase the popularity of their candidate themselves, and these actions would be chosen by the AI.

About the political parties, they should make more sense according to the policies of the country.

A party will select someone to represent them in the election, or can be done manually by the player, and this shall be done in the other parties and countries, by the AI.

If the player doesn't help any candidate in his country, AI will choose someone randomly. Either this, or according to which actions each party took.

And the doctrines of the nation should also take a crucial place in the elections. Let's say, a population that has ties with communism is more likely to support a communist candidate.

Political parties: Introduce different political parties with specific ideologies such as conservatism, liberalism, socialism, etc. Assign buffs and debuffs to each party based on their ideologies, reflecting their economic, social and military policies.

Influence on the Population: Allow players to take specific actions to influence public opinion. This could include propaganda, speeches, specific policies and diplomatic actions. Associating actions with each ideology can increase the population's affinity with a particular party.

Election Campaigns: Implement regular election periods. During these periods, players can run election campaigns, spending resources to increase their party's popularity.

Advantages and Disadvantages of Parties: The winning parties can bring specific benefits to the country, such as cost reductions, military bonuses, or technological advances. However, each party may have its own associated disadvantages, such as increased dissatisfaction or additional costs.

Random Events: Introduce random events related to politics, such as scandals, economic crises or technological advances, which can affect the popularity of parties.

Ideological Changes: Allow parties to change their ideologies over time based on events or player actions, adding a dynamic element to the political system.

Coalitions and Coalitions: Enable the formation of coalitions between parties to govern, reflecting the need for cooperation in multi-party systems.

Given that you wish to add political parties, the polity system must be redesigned so that it doesn't work like Age of Civilization 2, which made many polities independent of each other (e.g., in Age of Civilization 2, republics and democracies were independent of each other, and nomadic tribes and monarchies were independent of each other, but in reality, most of the nomadic countries were monarchies as well.)
Here's what I think:
1. Simplify the basic system of government into "monarchy," "parliamentary system," "presidential system," and "theocracy," and add more government reforms. And add more governmental reforms, for example, a monarchy can be an authoritarian monarchy if it has "dictatorial" reforms, a feudal monarchy if it has "feudal" reforms, or a constitutional monarchy if it has "constitutional" reforms, or an authoritarian monarchy if it has "constitutional" reforms, or a feudal monarchy if it has "constitutional" reforms. If it has "constitutional" reforms, it is a constitutional monarchy, and if it has "universal suffrage" reforms, it is an enlightened monarchy. At the same time, there are many special reforms, such as the "Shogun" reform, which will make you a Shogun, and the "Celestial" reform, which will make you a Chinese Empire. Certain conditions need to be met before you can change to other government reforms.
2. Parties. There should be a very large number of party types in the game, which are unlocked with technology and can be disabled by events or resolutions in the game, for example, in some cases, a capitalist country can outlaw a socialist party, thus disabling the party, but creating a risk of insurgency. Each party has an attractiveness that is determined by the country's economic situation and reform options. You can also strengthen a party through resolutions. The country's income from finance and trade grows the attraction of liberals, income from production grows the attraction of workers and petty bourgeoisie, income from agriculture grows the attraction of conservatives, and the number of temple buildings and income generated by temples grows the attraction of the church. Nationalism is also strengthened by the existence of a gathering place for people who do not belong to their own ethnic group.
There are a number of parties that can be categorized; five parties can be present in the game at once, and if a party is too small in power, it will be ignored. Ignored parties discount their attractiveness by a certain percentage to the one with the highest influence among parties of the same type. For example, if Labor Unionism, Marxism, Maoism, and Leninism belong to the same category, and five parties already exist in the country, and none of the parties in this category get a seat, the other three parties will discount their attraction to the Marxist with the highest attraction, giving it a chance to get a seat.
3, Ancient factions, the party system can be used as factions in antiquity, divided into the King's party, the military ministers, the administrative ministers, the foreign ministers, the ministers of science and technology, the churches, the peasants, and the citizens.
Allowing different factions to gain high power will have different effects on you, for example, the ministerial faction will enhance your corresponding research or revenue, the king's party will be beneficial to your reform progress and centralization of power, the church can increase tax revenue and missionary ability, the farmers to increase your your output, and the citizens to increase your production capacity.

    • AoH3 – Help with translation of the Game
Hi, I need your help translating the Age of History 3 to your native language.
Your translation into your native language would be very helpful! ❤️

In the attachment is a file with new texts in the game to be translated.

      How to make translation:

In the file there is list of texts in the game

The Left side is the key, do not change it!

The right side of each line after = is the translation to your language

      Example:

ChooseAnAdvisorToHire = Choose an Advisor to Hire

ChooseAnAdvisorToHire is the key, don't change it

      Correctly made translation:

      ChooseAnAdvisorToHire = Your translated text
      ClickToHireAnAdvisor = Your translated text
      ClickToFireAnAdvisor = Your translated text

      etc.

ShiftClickToInvestXTimes = Shift + Click to invest {0} times

In the place of {0} will be placed number or text

      PerformTheActionXTimes = Perform the action {0,choice,0#{0} times|1#{0} time|1<{0,number,integer} times}

For now the game is translated to: Only English language!

    • Land units - Ideas AoH3
AoH3 will have different types of land units.

In this topic we will write ideas for new land units.

So the AoH 3 will have new battle system.

Representation of the battlefield in the game.

Land units will be grouped into 3 types. Each unit will have a different recruitment cost, attack, defense, movement speed and upkeep.

Groups determine the placement of units on the battlefield.

Each unit can be unlocked by researching technology and then upgraded.

Here is the current list of units with upgrades:

      First line:

Warrior -> Light Footmen -> Heavy Infantry -> Infantry -> Line Infantry -> Modern Infantry

Hoplites -> Spearmen -> Pikeman -> Elite Pikeman -> Musketeer -> Riflemen -> Mechanized Infantry -> Modern Mechanized Infantry

      First line side:

Horseman -> Elite Horseman -> Cavalry -> Tank -> Modern Tank

      Second line:

Archer -> Bowmen -> Crossbowman -> Elite Crossbowman

Canon -> Field Cannon -> Artillery -> Modern Artillery

Early Airplane -> Airplane -> Modern Airplane

This is a very early version, so maybe something should be changed?

Or maybe an idea for a new type of unit with upgrades? I'm waiting for your suggestions.
