Marerjh 284 Posted September 2, 2024 (edited) Hi. New video revealed AI behavior to us. Let's discuss it here! So my observations are: Lukasz destroyed all the armies with no problem. England and France are both extremely passive. Spain conquered Portugal, and Aragon conquered Spain. Ottoman disappeared from the map. It looks like Lukasz once again tried to make the game "balanced" by reducing some economies, resulting in civilizations being +- same in terms of power.馃檪 I'm not sure if Lithuania is able to manage its vassals well. Also, if conquered provinces have no border with the main domain, the conqueror should create a new vassal rather than taking provinces to himself. I'm curious if AI has any building strategies, as buildings are EXTREMELY IMPORTANT in this game. One library gives +5 points to research every month, basically making research fully dependent on buildings. Technologies were always an important part of grand strategies. Libraries will be the most important buildings fr. Do AI know it? At 1:16:30, Frankfurt (one province minor) declared war on Lukasz's ally, which led to war with Lukasz itself. At this moment, Lukasz had already taken half of Germany and was extremely powerful, so Frankfurt had no chance. Why has it declared war? No coalitions ever formed, so there was no punishment for high aggressive expansion. There is no way to create an alliance or to conclude a non-agressions pact at the start of the game because the base willingness is -30 and -35 respectively. However, in other grand strategies, alliances are basically the main element in balancing the power of nations. 聽 Edited September 2, 2024 by Marerjh YusufAliDE, Fire Quickly, Nay_13 and 7 others
Wayne23lololh 1,645 Posted September 2, 2024 imo, for the first point, installing a province limit for each rank and making AI more likely to unite a region will be enough for border gore. We shall still note that the game is still not finished (the release date is in almost two months). bizacjum and YusufAliDE

Limiting AI and forcing it to conquer specific provinces is poor idea and will make it even weaker. Instead, civilizations should antagonize with civilizations within same rank (minor - minor, major - major). Minor civilizations should seeknfor alliances with Major powers to defend themselves and fight their rivals. Major powers should use minors to fight another majors. This will prevent majors from border-goring across continent聽 YusufAliDE, Wayne23lololh and Naval 1

Civilizations should antagonize with civilizations which have similar rank - the less provinces the civilization have, the smaller neighbors they should rival with. And if a minor civilization starts to become surrounded by greater powers (or powers that are in an ally, or vassals and its greater lord etc), its AI should struggle to improve relations with them, in order not to get conquered or vasalized. In a nutshell: it should do everyting to remain sovereign, not attack them馃槄聽 13 hours ago, Marerjh said: At 1:16:30, Frankfurt (one province minor) declared war on Lukasz's ally, which led to war with Lukasz itself. It looks as if Frankfurt forgot about the diplomacy and obvious fact there is someone's bigger behind attacked civilization. And this is exacly a sutiation where a rule聽mentioned above should apply:聽do not attack your neighbour if聽its lord is more powerful than you. AI should consider such things. Marerjh 284 Posted September 7, 2024 (edited) Heh.
