Land units - Ideas AoH3

The current system looks very good not too simple and not too complicated either, I would suggest that the terrain and rivers should play a bigger role, that would give the player or ai a chance if faced against a enemy with high level generals, you would get a fair chance to survive when playing as a small nation.

1 if your units have very low morale they have a chance to desert.

2 if you have negative balance in your treasury for too long ( 60 or 100 days for example ) the army can rebel.

3 units that you have recruited in provinces that arent your primary culture should have a higher chance to rebel when in low morale or negative treasury, ultimately they would declare independence from you if not dealt with. i think that this would make it harder for the player to steamroll the ai.

4 in modern eras if many units are present in a single province they should get stats debuff but a slight morale increase, the longer they stay in said province the higher public unrest goes. this should prevent the unrealistic creation of doomstacks in modern eras and more realistic battles.

also there is no logic for planes to be in division, not everywhere is a place to land etc, it should be a different type of thing, not in a division, something more like hoi4 stuff, even tho im not fan of hoi4, this is a solution that would be better

game should be simple, its not a hoi4 real world simulator, it is a aoh series, the game that keeps the things simple and fun, the game that is easy to understand and playable on phone, dont make army have different weapons etc, there will be a lot of new infantry etc anyway, modders will be able to mod, they can make it complicated for people if they want to, but in this series we dont look for very realistic game, at least thats what im getting from it, the way Łukasz is presenting it is great, just technology for new type of unit so it will be fitting its time etc, and not a number fighting, and it will include the technology advantage, which was not present in aoh2, my opinion on it (just the planes, i will pray he changes them)

I agree keep it simple start adding to much complex mechanics will result in more time and bugs

That great! It would be cool if you added different equipment to equip the troops such as blades, ammo or guns and stylize the troops for lets say the romans to china or the tanks from germany to usa to make it look distinct with their different bonuses

what i suggest for your game is special units.

special units are recruitable in different regions.

let's give an example :

Nordic Axemen is a very powerful Viking unit. The blow was high and became the foundation of the Baltic Empire.

Ravenna Elite Crossbowmen is an Italian unit. He was hired and worked as a mercenary in various places.

Longbowmen is an English unit. It played a major role in the Hundred Years' War, defeating the outnumbered French heavy cavalry.

Winged Hassers is a Polish unit. We had an advantageous position against the powerful Mongol army and the Ottoman army.

Also, it would be more interesting if we could add era-limited units.

Waffen Schutzstaffe1 is German unit. This elite unit terrorized the Soviet Union during the German-Soviet War.

By adding these units, you can enjoy more historically compliant play.

I mean it's not even that complex, my concept is basically just bonuses that you can upgrade and unlock with technology and that you put them into your units for more attack, defense speed etc, i dont think it's too complex to it reach hoi4 levels, plus it would make the armies have different stats even if they are same type of unit, and weapons would be way cheaper than unlocking a different unit for example

ARTILLERY ONLY! But other than artillery, there should be a thing on the unit file that makes it impossible to obtain them during certain ages. Like obviously you shouldn't be using archers during world war two. But, I guess you should be able to give certain unit tech for scenarios, so realistic Italian-ethiopian war. Also, unit tech shouldn't delete when you reach a certain age, only when you play on a scenario where that certain unit tech becomes out of fashion, it shouldn't be obtainable. I doubt anyone would play for this long, but it would be memey to do tanks vs crossbowmen lol.

play AoH2.

the more time passed, the more exciting and complicated features people want.

I'm really agreed with the new land units idea because we can finally play true war simulator.

Every country has a unique unit like Timurids having elephants. That’s why I think you should add those units to those specific countries. Also when you invade those countries you can get their units as well.

I know that you will add this but It would be weird if we were attacking countries with bows and arrows in the 2023 scenario.

can you even read? i did not day anything bad about new units but the planes, just the changable weapons for units would be a little worse idea

Add system of hiring mercenaries from other state and add varieties(historical) for mercenaries 

Add missile launcher or missle launching truck unit in artillery group

Add horse archers like the nomadic states used to have

My idea is maybe similar to EU4, but it's interresting nonethless.

Some players would want countries to have unique troops, but in this system I have another idea.

Groups of Technology (or however it would be named) that differ stats for different regions. For example Eastern Europe Group would have better stats for pre-modern cavarly, north America better aviation etc.

Every tag would have to have assigned group

есть возможность добавить в игру личные юниты, которые будут с какой-либо страной (например, в Индии Боевые Слоны).
А также возможность делать персональную технику для стран.

I like the idea.Your new unit system is very impressive.I have one suggestion.You know all strategy games are all the same.They produce units and fight and recruit again.But after seeing your unit system,I am surprised that your unit system will be cool by adding resources which supply armies.(resources-corn,oil)
