I understand that there is an evolution paths for units in the game like swordsman->early soldiers blah blah blah but i think we can imrpove that

 

we can unlock new units by unlocking them in the technology tree but units can also have their own small tech tree that uses research points (are used at the start of the game to increase tax money and other buffs). this gives more use for technology points and will also allow smaller nation to become more powerful since they have better unit tech

an example of this unit tech in game would be

Soldier

Gun Tech: AK-47 -> AR-15 -> LMG (Each upgrade increases damage by X percent)

Armor Tech: Basic Army Suit -> Bulletproof vest -> Fully body bulletproof armor (Each upgrade decreases damage taken by enemy by X percent)

and another example would be

Tank

Tank Gun Tech: Small rounds -> Large Heavy Rounds -> Incendiary Rounds (Increases damage by x percent)

Tank Tracks Tech: Small tracks -> Large tracks - >  High Speed tracks (increases speed by x percent[when moving around territories])

Tank Armor Tech: Light Armor -> Medium Armor ->  Heavy Armor (decreases damage taken by x percent)

 

All of these Techs should have no disadvantages since it would unfair if you accidently increased a level and received a disadvantage  (such as a decrease in speed due to heavy armor)

 

Also Countries and Kingdoms (in every scenario) should spawn with a base tech level for every unit, this would make the game more realistic, Example:

America should spawn with level 3 tank gun in modern day

Germany should spawn with level 3 tank tracks in WW2 (or 1939/1945)

 

I think if this was added it would make the units a bit more complicated but would add another layer of gameplay this game is currently missing, after getting modern tanks there is really nothing else to do but invade so this mini-tech tree for all units would help bring the game together and add another use for research points
