So, if you've played as Japan on the pre-release version of1.1, you might have noticed you get events at the start of the game, which wasn't intentional. I've tried my best to fix it, but as far as I can tell, the "OR" trigger just basically breaks any event, so there's nothing I can do about it. Because of this, I'll focus on things outside events (new countries, to be exact) until Lukasz fixes the events, which are generally a bit of a broken mess at the moment. Sorry for the inconvenience, but there's simply not much I can do about it at the moment.

Hi! As necessary, this is yet another progress report on Update 1.1, and as far as I know, the second-to-last. I'll probably have one more progress report besides this before Update 1.1 is fully out, so yeah! For this update, as said in the title, we have 3 main subjects; Coal, Iron, India. Coal and Coal (Hill). These are 2 of the new 4 terrain types that I've made for Coat of Arms: 1836. The Coal terrain type provides REALLY large bonuses to the province with this type of terrain. For coal, the benefits are (if I recall correctly) -40% build cost, +25% population growth, and +40% economic growth. While these bonuses are really high, they're more so to represent…

Don't have any progress to report at the moment because, as you might have noticed, I haven't posted much either. It's because I've been doing things outside of AoC2, such as parties, journeys and so on, not to mention school. I'm simply making this progress report to tell you that no, 1.1 isn't abandoned, not at all. It's simply an explanation for the lack of progress, but really, all I can say about the official release is Soon™. And it really will be. All I've got to do is add Indian civilizations and finish the terrain. You can expect update 1.1 to fully come no later than the end of January. It'll definitely be before February, but I might just finish it next we…

It's true. Update 1.1 really is nearing its completion. All I need to do now is add a few missing civilizations and finish the coal/iron terrain maps and finish the collapse of Qing event completely. Otherwise, that's really the update done! So I hope I haven't had you guys waiting too long. As for today's "dev report", I've got 2 things: info about the new Qing events and something I've been working on for update 1.2, Manifest Destiny. Let's get started: Collapse of Qing. At around 1900, Qing gets an event called "Collapse of Qing". This starts an event chain where every turn there's a chance for events that happen to Qing. These events include things such as t…

While I didn't do much for the scenario today (I messed around on editor. Might or might not involve a throne game, wink wink), I have done some thinking about what else I want to do for Update 1.1 and about the next update for Coat of Arms: 1836. So, let's get on for what's left for Update 1.1. Treaties for China to give over various trading ports. While initially, I wanted to make events about the Opium Wars, I soon realized that these wars would be way too big for what they actually were and would be too decisive if I still wanted players to retain their freedom during the war, hence I've decided that I'll simply add events for UK, France, Germany and alike t…

Unlike other ones, I'll try and keep this a bit shorter. Also, another quick announcement: there's been a bit of a lack of updates due to personal reasons, but CoA: 1836 is not being abandoned at all, so don't worry. Anyways, let me give you a quick rundown of the new features I've added recently: UK and Germany now have an event chain to annex a Chinese few ports. Both UK and Germany get events that are all around the same. The event initially asks them if they wish to request a trading port (Hong Kong for the UK, Qingdao for Germany) from China. If China denies, UK or Germany then gets an event to threaten with war if China doesn't hand over the province. If C…

Another day, another progress report on 1.1. After all, I need to somehow keep you guys interested. Anyways, today I only made some events, but I made quite a lot of them. Meiji Restoration and Reforms. At around ~1860, Japan gets an event for the Meiji Restoration. If Japan accepts (which they almost always will), it starts a 7-event event-chain. Each event is based on a topic, such as the IJA or industrialization. If Japan decides to choose the positive option, they get +0.1 technology (10 research points), -20 to -40% unhappiness in all of civilization (depends on the event) and some bonuses. This adds a trade-off system. You need to decide whether you w…

I'd say it's been going quite well! I've generally spent most of my time fixing some European and American events, but since the main focus is Asia, I've added several events from them as well. Anyways, let's talk about what's done so far: American Civil War remade. When it starts, territories that were neutral during the war now get occupied by "neutral" except the bordering provinces (so no country can snatch them). After the war, US gets an event to reannex them. There is now also an option to play as the CSA in the civil war, but no idea how stable it is. Fixed the formation of the North German Confederation. Added some lacking events and made it so d…
