Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic. 
Kind of like a step below the standard SSR, as the Moldavian ASSR was a part of the larger Ukrainian SSR.

There really isn't much I could do to fix that, for which the best course of action would be to modify Ukraine's coastline. 
I am pretty certain the mouth of the Dniester is in the wrong spot, it should be shifted down a little bit.

Obviously historical borders come first, but even then, these new oblast boundaries is way better than what you could do in vanilla. 
(yes outer Kiev and Cherkasy isn't finished)

About Donetsk and lugank, you should do it base on border before the war and during the war. And you should divide them equally like if Donetsk 5, lugank 5 too.

I could do that. I was thinking of making the overall oblast, but include the Russian separatist zones in the southeast.

Well, Ukraine is done, with 135 provinces + Crimea (126 without) 
+oblast map (a bit inaccurate, due to historic borders though)
