Changing eras, different technologies, forms of state, historical and cultural circumstances, etc. hint at the need to introduce different types of vassals. Possible template examples: 1) “Vassal” is a dependent monarchical state that transfers part of the income to the monarchical overlord and enters into his wars. It has restrictions in diplomacy. 2) "Protector" - a dependent state of any type, receiving protection from the overlord in exchange for a reward. 3) "Dominion" - does not owe anything to the overlord, except for payment of part of the income. 4) “Tributary” is an improved version of dominion for tribal forms of government, if any. Also provides recruits. 5) "Autonomous republic" - a dependent democratic state with a democratic overlord. Transfers part of the income, recruits and other numerical resources. Has a bonus to economic and population growth. 6) "Colony" - transfers a significant share of income. Has debuffs to economic growth and technology. Can exist only when civilization can develop empty provinces 7) “Trading company” - depending on personal income, it provides the overlord with production bonuses. Has the same restriction as a colony. 😎 “Mark” - does not transfer income or anything else, but is not completely diplomatically independent and has bonuses for recruits, efficiency and army size. 9) “Autonomous Soviet Republic” is a type of autonomous republic, but for communists. Added a growth bonus in exchange for reduced tax revenue. 10) “Daimyo” is a special vassal for monarchical Japan (requires the presence of a state itself, which will serve as an emperor/shogun). The capital should be on the Japanese archipelago. Transfers part of the recruits and income to the emperor, cannot rebel, but otherwise is completely independent. (It is clear that if the daimyo or their union becomes stronger than the emperor, then that’s a different story). 11) Eyalet is a special vassal of the Ottomans/Turkey/another monarchical Turkic state. Differs from a regular vassal in the bonus towards the overlord. .............You can also think of other interesting types.........Separately, I am interested in the mechanics of Unias and Confederations (if it cannot be implemented through organizations )

Addition: people rightly pointed out the practical pointlessness of this idea and the emphasis on role-playing. It's not a problem. Remember how other games or mods for the second part of this game dealt with this. If you increase the threat of uprisings while simultaneously massively expanding territories; introduce mechanics that limit the limit of effective control, similar to the limit for an army (seen in the alpha), then in some cases the depth and variety of possible subjects will greatly influence the gameplay, regardless of whether you like to “paint over” the map or put emphasis on the development of a small countries up.

What do you think about this, @Łukasz Jakowski?

Beside, there can have Reichkommisariat, a territorial administration of third Reich during WW2.

By the way, yes, this is very interesting. Such entities could provide a growth bonus and transfer income to Reich, while themselves experiencing developmental lag (a reference to the Liebensraum principle and harsh exploitation)

It's too complicated, I think. This many types of vassals, especially the country specific ones, such as eyalet or reichskommissariat, is not what AoH about. I would like to see one type of puppets - dependent state, which then could be modified by overlord to be more of a incorporated colony or just a tributary, with the amount of money, they give off and their freedoms.
