Maldev I. became king of Vijayanagar on the 17th of June in 1440. He reorganized the economy and helped to increase the welfare in his country. He also renamed the country to Kingdom of Vianagar because it fitted the country's language better.

 

His biggest plan was to unite all Indian nations into one big empire - the Indian Empire. Maldev thought that the Indian nations were very similar already and that only Vianagar had the power to unite them.

EPISODE 1 - CONQUERING SOUTH INDIA

 

On the 23rd of October in 1441, Maldev decided to start his big operation with the invasion of Mysore.

Many Vianagese people lived in Mysore and the culture of the two countries was very similar.

The war was very easy and Vianagar faced only a small resistance.

 

Now Maldev turned his eyes to Malabar. Vianagar declared war on Malabar on the 21st of February in 1443 and attacked them with about 3000 troops.

Maldev wasn't an experienced strategist, so he lost some battles against Malabar.

 

The soldiers of Malabar were fighting hard to defend their country, but on the 16th of April the Vianagese troops were able to conquer their capital Mangalore.

Malabar was later fully annexed by Vianagar and Maldev felt successful.

 

Vianagar declared war on Cochina on the 5th of July in 1445. Maldev ordered to make this war short, because he didn't want to lose time with this small nation.

 

For the final attack on Venad, Maldev ordered to recruit over 3000 troops. Vianagar began their invasion against Venad on the 14th of April in 1447.

The enemy troops were fighting hard and they were in larger numbers. Maldev didn't expect that, so he had to increase the taxes, which made some people upset.

 

One year later, the Vianagese troops managed to destroy nearly the whole army of Venad in the Battle of Madurai.

Now, the Vianagese army was able to conquer the capital of Venad and to move further on.

The peace treaty of Kollam was signed soon after this battle and Venad was completely annexed by Vianagar.

EPISODE 2 - ISLANDS

Now, south India was free of other countries. Maldev I. decided to continue his plan with the conquest of Sri Lanka and the Maledives.

 

Maldev decided to send an ultimatum to Jaffna and to demand their annexation. Jaffna  had to accept, because they weren't strong enough to go to war against Vianagar.

 

Vianagar prepared over 5000 troops and sent them to Jaffna. On the 29th of July in 1451, Maldev sent the order to Jaffna to begin the invasion of Sri Lanka.

 

The enemy troops were fighting very hard to defend their island and Maldev had to send more troops and supplies.

The capital of Sri Lanka was conquered on the 4th of October in 1452. Now, the troops of Vianagar were ready to end this war.

 

The peace treaty of Colombo was signed on the 20th of January in 1453 and meant the full annexation of Sri Lanka.

Over 15'100 people died in this war, but for Maldev that was neccessary to unite the Indian nations.

 

Vianagar prepared over 4600 troops against the Maledives. On the 10th of April in 1455, Vianagar declared war on the Maledives and conquered them successfully.

After that, Vianagar sent the remaining troops north and prepared them for further actions.

EPISODE 3 - CENTRAL INDIA

Maldev decided that it would be the best for his country, when Vianagar made an alliance with Orissa.

Now, he was sure that his country was strong enough to defeat the countries in the north.

 

Maldev began the invasion of Andhra on the 21st of December in 1458 with over 7000 troops.

 

Andhra had of course no chance and surrendered on the 1st of June in 1459.

Now, the border to Bahmani was cleared and Vianagar was finally able to set up their armies there.

 

Vianagar prepared over 12'000 troops and they attacked them on the 2nd of June in 1462.

Bahmani was the second most powerful nation in India, but still, Vianagar was able to advance fast with the help of Odissa.

 

The final attack on Karimnagar, the capital of Bahmani, followed on the 26th of October in the same year.

After that, Bahmani fell quickly, but Vianagar was only able to annex their southern provinces.

Meanwhile, Maldev was 42 years old, quite old for the people from this time, but he was still a powerful man and he had still enough energy to continue his wars.

Maldev decided to gather his troops at the border of Gujarat, because they were his next target.

With them, Vianagar got access to the important city Mumbai and to some relevant harbours.

EPISODE 4 - RAZADARIT

Vianagar declared war on Gujarat on the 2nd of May in 1265. Over 8500 Vianagese troops crossed the border.

 

Meanwhile, Orissa asked Vianagar to prepare a war againts Bengal. Maldev decided to refuse, because he was already busy with Gujarat.

 

Orissa decided to declare war on Bengal anyways, so Maldev decided to send 1000 troops to defend his partner.

 

The Vianagese troops were finally able to land in the capital of Gujarat on the 31st of September in 1466.

Maldev later found out that the king of Gujarat fled to another country weeks before the final attack of Vianagar.

 

The troops in Odissa were able to push back the enemy troops and Maldev ordered a counterattack with the help of the troops of Odissa.

They were successful, but Maldev knew a big operation against Bengal would be very expensive and would cost many lives.

 

Razadarit, the king of Pegu, didn't like the expansion of Vianagar. He was afraid that one day also his country would get conquered, so he decided to stop this now.

Vianagese diplomats got executed and Pegu declared war on Vianagar on the 13th of August in 1467.

Maldev was very angry. But he decided to finish the war against Bengal first, and then move on to Pegu.

EPISODE 5 - NEW KING

Vianagar landed on the 9th of October in 1469 on Kolkata, Bengal. The landing was successful and Maldev ordered to advance.

The capital of Bangal was conquered just a few weeks later.

 

Thousands of Vianagese troops were able to conquer more and more land of Bengal.

Bengal surrendered four months later and they got fully annexed of Vianagar.

 

Now Maldev ordered to send the Vianagese troops to Pegu.

On the 7th of February in 1471, over 9000 troops landed on the coastlines of Pegu.

Not all landings were successful, so Maldev had to send even more troops to the ongoing battles.

 

The last attack on Pegu happened on the 6th of June in 1472.

Pegu surrendered just a short time after that and their territory got annexed by Vianagar.

Some Viaganese soldiers found Razadarit (the king of Pegu) in his royal palace, while he was trying to hide from the Vianagese troops.

He was forced to wear signs with the names of the killed Vianagese diplomats and was then executed.

The plague began to spread in central india and also king Maldev got infected.

Of course he had no chances and he died on the 17th of September in 1473 in a special room, because they wanted that no other people in the royal palace got infected.

Maldev had one son, Himmat. Himmat was a nice person, 21 years old and he had good contacts to the Vianagese people.

 

Himmat was coronated just three days later, near a big temple in Bellary, the capital of Vianagar.

EPISODE 6 - BAHMANI, KHANDESH AND BASTAR

Hammit decided to continue the plans of his father and began recruiting thousands of troops at the border of Bahmani.

Vianagar declared war on them on the 1st of February in 1473.

The war was easy and short. Bahmani surrendered on the 4th of July in 1474 and got fully annaxed by Vianagar.

 

Hammit gathered his troops around Khandesh. On the 13th of April in 1476, the troops were ready and launched an attack on the order of Hammit.

They were successful, so Hammit decided to gather the remaining troops around Bastar.

Over 9000 troops crossed the border of Bastar on the 3rd of March in 1477.

This war was also very easy and short and the conquered land got annexed, after Bastar surrendered just a few months later.

 

Morning, 12th of September in 1477:

Hammit was thinking about his expansion plans, while he was eating breakfast. Suddenly an officer came in the room.

"मेरे राजा, मालवा और उनके सहयोगियों ने हम पर युद्ध की घोषणा की है!" said the officer.

"Prepare the army immediately and recruit more troops!" answered Hammit.

 

Hammit also called Orissa to help, to get some support in this great war.

EPISODE 7 - GREAT CENTRAL WAR

At first, Malwa managed to advance into Vianagese territory and Orissa prepared their attack on Gondwana.

Vianagar couldn't recruit many troops at the border, because this new conquered land wasn't stabilized enough. But now, thousands of Vianagese troops from the inside of the country marched towards the border.

 

These troops, with the help of Orissa, were able to push back the enemy troops and were able to do a counterattack on the capital of Malwa.

Also 340 troops of Malwa were encirceled and completly destroyed.

 

The last attacks happened on the 11th of December in 1478, when thousands of troops conquered Ujjain, Baran and Kampur.

 

Malwa and his vassals surrendered on the 3rd of February in 1479. They had to sign a peace treaty with Vianagar and Orissa.

Vianagar annexed the biggest part of the enemy land and Orissa got a province in the east.

 

Hammit decided to continue his expansion with Rema Kantha. He sent an ultimatum, in which he demanded their full annexation and if they refuse, nearly 10'000 troops would invade them. Rema Kantha refused, so Hammit ordered the invasion of them.

The war was short and Rema Kantha got fully annexed by the peace treaty of Indore.

 

Now, most land of central India had been conquered, except for two kingdoms, which divided the Kingdom of Vianagar into two parts.

It was time to betray and surprise Orissa, because it was clear that Orissa was only useful for the beginning of Maldev's great plan.

EPISODE 8 - BETRAYAL

The Vianagese troops were marching towards the border of Orissa, when Hammit suddenly received a war declaration of Pasai, Ava and Gwalior.

Hammit immediately deployed some troops, to endure the first enemy attacks.

But luckily, the Vianagese diplomats were faster and managed to make peace treaties with the other countries.

 

Vianagar ended their alliance with Orissa on the 3rd of October in 1481. Now, Orissa knew that something bad was going on.

 

Vianagar declared war on Orissa on the 28th of November in 1481. About 26'000 troops crossed the border.

The king of Orissa was shocked but he had to defend his already lost country.

 

The final attacks on the capital of Orissa and on many other importqnt cities took place on the 19th of January in 1482.

Orissa surrendered soon after this battles and got fully annexed.

For his courageous fight, the king of Orissa got a small island in the Maledives, where he can live the rest of his life in peace.

 

Jharkhand knew that they would be next, so they tried to prepare their army and their vassal Tirhut.

Vianagar declared war on Jarkhand and Tirhut on the 9th of December in 1482. Over 17'000 troops attacked Jharkhand and about 1200 Tirhut.

Jharkhand couldn't defeat the large amount of troops attacking them, but Tirhut was able to defend themselfs at first.

 

But still, the king of Tirhut saw no chance for his country, so he called his good friend Janladesh to help. Unfortunately, Janladesh was the vassal of Delhi, so Delhi also declared war on Vianagar.

EPSIODE 9 - WAR AGAINST DELHI & CO.

The Vianagese troops in the east were able to do the first attacks on Delhi. Delhi managed to advance south, because Vianagar didn't had any troops there.

The Vianagese army was still behind Jaunpur, so Hammit asked them if his army could march through their land.

 

The Vianagese army pushed back the enemy troops and marched along the Ganges.

They couldn't advance fast, because of the terrain.

 

On the 26th of July in 1484, over 2600 troops conquered Patiala and over 3000 troops conquered Sri Ganganagar.

 

The treaty of Patiala was signed on the 4th of January in 1481 and meant the annexation of Delhi, Tirhut, Jharkhand and Janladesh.

Over 37'000 people died in this war.

 

Baluchistan wasn't happy that Delhi got annexed by Vianagar, so they decided to declare war on Vianagar.

 

Luckily, the Vianagese army was in the region, so they were able to attack fast.

The army of Baluchistan wasn't strong enough to defend their country against Vianagar and many soldiers were killed in hopeless fights.

Baluchistan had to surrender and was fully annexed by Vianagar. For Hammit, this war wasn't necessary, because Beluchistan wasn't a real Indian nation in the eyes of Hammit.

EPISODE 10 - ULTIMATUMS

Vianagar sent ultimatums to the remaining Indian nations, in which he demanded their full annexation.

Hammit ordered to begin recruiting thousands of new troops around the Indian nations, that refused.

 

Over 28'000 troops crossed the border of Kathiawar, after Vianagar declared war on them.

The battles were brutal, but Kathiawar had no chance against the invaders.

 

Kathiawar surrendered on the 2nd of January in 1489.

Their torritory got fully annexed and over 14'000 people died in the short war.

 

The king of Multan saw no chance for his country, if they would just wait for the Vianagese attack. He decided to surprise Vianagar with an attack on their main forces in the region.

Hammit was really surprised, but the enemy troops had of course no chance against the immense army of Vianagar.

 

Multan signed the peace treaty of Rahim Yar Khan on the 22nd of November in 1489.

Hammit decided not to annex their land in the noeth, because it was not useful for Hammit.

 

Hammit ordered to gather the remaining troops around Jaisalmer. They launched an attack on the 15th of January in 1490.

Jaisalmer surrendered just a few weeks after the first attacks, so there was just one Indian country left besides Vianagar.

EPISODE 11 - THE INDIAN EMPIRE

On the 3rd of May in 1490, Hammit ordered to sent the Vianagese army to the last remaining Indian nation, Jaunpur.

 

Vianagar declared war on the 1st of August in 1491. Over 26'000 troops invaded Jaunpur.

Jaunpur had no chance and with it, the last Indian nation besides Vianagar fell.

 

Vianagar was now big enough to make Maldev's dream to come true.

 

Hammit I, son of Maldev I, finally proclaimed the Indian Empire on the 18th of December in 1491. Now, the Indian Empires were united and stronger than ever before.

 

Many celebrations and festivals took place throughout the empire and the people were very happy. Hammit also decreased the taxes and increased the spendings for welfare in his empire.

 

Of course, the story of the Indian Empire didn't end here. Many wars and also civil wars happend, but the great leaders of the Indian Empire that followed Maldev and Hammit managed to lead this glorious Empire to the modern age.

 

One year later, 1492:

An Italian explorer called Christopher Columbus heard from the proclamation of the Indian Empire. He decided to travel to India under the flag of Castile by the fastest route to take a look. Columbus never reached India, but he dicovered something new. America.

But, that's a different story...
